I love Juneteenth. It is my actual birthday.

General Washington Lead the Continental Army out of their Valley Forge encampment on that day. Nine days following was the Battle of Monmouth. The good guys won on a TKO.

The weather tends to be very nice on that day, everywhere.

A credit union making it a holiday is odd because the Fed is open and banking services are going on. I would hate to work in their Ops department.

No. Juneteenth is an official federal holiday as of 2021. The fed will be closed. It's officially the 19th, but will be observed on the 18th if the 19th is a Saturday, or observed on the 20th if the 19th is a Sunday.

I would be all for “Death to Communist Traitors Day” as a national holiday, Juneteenth not so much. I think it is one of the most asinine things ever passed.

I have no problem with folks in Texas celebrating it. I think it is an idiotic national holiday.

It is embarrassing. But I guess national embarrassment is the entire point of any Democrat endeavor.

Some US jurisdictions celebrate Patriot’s Day (April 19th) and some celebrate Evacuation Day (March 17th). Will those become federal holidays also?

“Juneteenth to replace Good Friday for day off — thank you Biden...”

How do you celebrate Juneteenth and for what possible reason?

Wrong. I heard from my cousin’s friend’s mother’s dog sitter that Juneteenth is replacing Groundhog Day as a national holiday. :-P

“That's not even English...ebonics maybe?”

I have not read to whom the word “Juneteenth” is attributed. I think it was supposed to be something that a freed slave said - a freed slave that could not count past twelve.

It is more likely something an unsympathetic white person said in a Stephen Foster minstrel show to discredit freed slaves who were sad and dreary.

But liberals today think the word Juneteenth is cute; and it is another paid holiday.

It doesn't bother me as long as the holiday is paid for by government money and not taxpayer money; and as long as essential workers are required to show up.

“It’s been a recognized state holiday in the Commonwealth of MA for several years. It’s the second or third Sunday in June.”

I would have twisted it to 13 thru 19 June, and just showed back up on the 20th... Wha! Wha? It could work once at every job you were new at.
