OK, I was leaning toward “fake.” I was wrong.
Will he not be allowed to act in movies now, or just not eligible for Oscars?
I’m guessing that not being eligible for Oscars would make it more difficult to get movie roles.
It IS important. Nobody knows and nobody cares who won which Oscar for best whatever.
This “controversy” is the best thing that has happened to the Academy Awards in years.
Who cares.

Isn’t he a scientologist? Maybe he will head to Florida for some therapy. Just think if all past Oscar winners. They can look at their statues with some pride at me least. Smith will probably never be able to do that. His career is one giant never ending flush now.

I respect so much people who admit they were wrong. It shows character and maturity.
Lots of respect to the few that have admitted they were wrong.
Maybe for entertainment purposes, but we’re all supposed to think celebrities are important because they’re important. They live glamourous lives with all their money, drugs, fame, 20 minute marriages, and living like spoiled kings and queens. They’re better than us and they know it, supposedly. So when one slaps another one we’re surprised that they’re just as much trash as anyone else.
A quick search turned up this: “By resigning, Smith will no longer be able to vote on Oscar-nominated movies and performances each year. His work, however, will still be eligible for future Oscars consideration and nominations.”
This is why I think the whole thing was staged, and even if it wasn’t, I knew nothing would happen. Rock didn’t want to press charges, and he would never sue another soul brother. Most of the black community or more approve of his actions,
I also remember a joke Chris Rock made years ago. “
I asked a white woman why she didn’t date black men?”
She said, “No reason”.
“So I punched her and gave her a reason”.
Both slimeballs.
Smith will come out this just fine, this really will not effect his career much, he will still be making movies, etc.. Not much else the Academy can do now since he resigned from it. And they will not take his Oscar away, although that should be on the table.
