Of course 80% of the Windows computers in a business environment are "consumer PCs". That's all the workstations and other computers that are used by the employees, on the business local network (LAN). Business IT departments don't give a secretary or CEO a rackmount server, they give them a consumer PC laptop. Geez, TG.

It's called "LAN" Sweeper. Sweeps a Local Area Network. In a business. Not people's home computers, over the internet by polling websites, which is what virtually all other computer surveys do.

Look, the important thing -- if you're actually interested in digging out facts rather than just arguing without them -- is whether LanSweeper was doing their survey in business LANs about business computers, or using internet website info about people's home computers.

LanSweeper is a business/LAN surveyor, and the other two surveys like most other surveys are home/internet surveyors, and that difference is sufficient to explain the different results.

The company’s numbers come from anonymous scans of systems running its software, not unlike Steam’s monthly surveys.

Steam surveys over the last three months indicate Windows 11 adoption that is much higher than Lansweeper’s numbers, but stalling nonetheless.

The March Steam survey has 16.84% of participants using Microsoft’s latest OS for a 1.25% growth over February. That’s starting to look like a slump compared to the increase of 2.03% in February and 3.41% in January.

Reports from AdDuplex over the same period peg Windows 11 at 20% adoption in March (including Windows Insiders) with a stall similar to what Steam shows. Data from Windows Store apps running AdDuplex software on around 60,000 PCs shows Windows 11 use jumping by 3.1% from January to February. March however only showed an increase of 0.4%.

AdDuplex’s chart below compares the adoption rate of Windows builds since 2016. It shows Windows 11, displayed on the far right, plateauing much sooner than any other build.

My turn to LOL. Steam is a gaming platform, not a business network scanner.

The "not unlike" has to do with their scanning method, not what they're scanning. I.e. they're using similar methods to scan different things.

Clearly you love to argue, I do too, some days, but this one has become tiresome. Unless you're willing to argue that Steam, a gaming platform, is sufficiently widespread in business networks that they do their surveys there, this increasingly silly conversation is over. And I don't think even you are up for that claim, so I'm done.

That high a % is hard to believe, as with the windows 11 requirements of TMP and secure boot (which requires GPT) and its insistence on treating users as novices (again) and hindering enhancements (yes. I am speaking from experience) then I suspected this would be akin to Windows ME in adoption. Maybe Vista.

But it depends on the survey:

I was an IT director for nearly twenty years, and told everyone that the day I have to upgrade the company’s computers to Windows 10 is the day I will retire. I tried my best to convert the company to Linux, but there was some proprietary Windows software we had to use that prevented it. I did run Linux on a number of servers though.
When I retired they were still on Windows 7.
I oversaw upgrades from Windows for Workgroups 3.1 through Windows 7, including Windows NT 3.1 through 4.0 (we skipped over 98, 2000, and ME by using NT, and we skipped over Windows Vista)
Windows 7 was hands down the best. Period.
Windows 8 was a non-starter. I almost upgraded us to Windows 10 based on the preliminary evaluation version, which I ran on my own desktop as a production computer until the day that the Start Menu disappeared. I have reevaluated Win 10 periodically since then and it never was acceptable to me.
My wife has Win 11 on her laptop and I have no clue how to do anything on it.

I bought a Epson Expression XP-6100 back in Sept 2021
I use Windows 7. Not all makers of printer do, so double check.

I had to buy some new LD cartridges thru Amazon 2 days ago when LD and G&G inks were not recognized for Magenta. The new Magenta and Yellow worked while some I had bought months before did not work. It said not recognized. It may be date related or the firmware update.

It turns out it was a Epson firmware update that I did from them. DO NOT DO ANY UPDATES after installing the software from the included cd. I saw many complaints on this issue with this and other models. Not just Epson does this.

LD ink is about $11 while $19 for OEM Epson High Yield ink ordered thru Amazon.
$26 at the Office Depot and Best Buy websites!!

At this rate MS is going to have to support Windoz 10 updates longer for businesses. And of course charge them for this.

I love Windows 11 and put it on all 5 of my desktops and laptops. They are all Intel 8th gen to 11th gen. One Ryzen too. Ryzen 5-2500U on a Dell laptop.

One reason I like Windows 10 and 11 is the ability to shift your laptop and LED monitors displays to more red color and less blue color. For nighttime. Linux Mint is pathetic on this.

I also use flu.x (easy download) to adjust the red and blue colors. So......I have two quick ways to adjust color temperature.

Thank you for taking the time to post your response. I made an W11 ISO and when the install stopped with the secure boot fail l gave up. I read somewhere if you do the work around future updates may not install. Now that you have sent me this l think l will revisit it. Thanks again for the effort, much appreciated.

Very glad it's working for you. So far the general consensus is a mixed bag, but there are all manner of causes for less-than-ideal user experiences. Nice to hear a strong positive one!

Automated color shifting with time-of-day is a relatively new thing, but I've done it manually in the past, during times when my eyes were acting up or I was doing lots of late-night work. It's a good thing, and thanks for the links to f.lux.

Flux will be in your taskbar tray on the far right. It is easier and quicker to grab onto and adjust the color temperatures. But, as posted, I also use the Windoz 11 “app” for red shift too. Under display properties.
