We have golden retrievers. The only risk factor is entrapment in shedded dog hair. They might smile you to death...or accidently knock you down while they jump for joy when they see you!

At first I suspected a chihuahua as the culprit.

I was also charged by a pit bull while walking down my street. I’m not sure if the owner’s sharp “NO!” make it stop in it’s tracks and turn around, but I really don’t know what would have happened without that command. I could have a skin graft on my arm right now.

Good to see her getting better.

Curious that this is video which shows the virtue-signaling yard sign right by the door.
Why am I not surprised;likely bleeding-heart libs who are so concerned with the bad racist stereotypes that pit-bull terriers get.

This was a scary enough event to make me consider carrying a pistol. But I really do not want start popping off 9mm rounds in a residential neighborhood.
Unless a dog is trained to attack, they expect you to run. If you stand still they will (most of.the time) stop and wait for you to run before they bite you. When they stop 2 or 3 feet from you is your only chance. But you must strike hard.

What’s amazing is how many pit owners fail to secure their dogs. There are videos out there of unsecured pits eating people. Real ugly stuff. From my experience an owner would know if their dog is vicious, and most owners will know damn well if the dog is capable of running at and attacking some innocent passerby no reason whatsoever. In most cases, it’s the chosen breed of the dangerously stupid.

Staffordshire.
It is one of the many (along with direct cousin Staff. Bull Terrier) in the class of pit-bull terriers. Subset of Bull-baiting dogs.
Except for the breeds that deliberately bred out the tenacity and intensity, not to be trusted. I might trust AKC show lines if I know they are such.

Choke chains still exist, thank God. For normal dogs with serious owners.
They won’t much help a PBT.

I remember a grandmother that would loudly but jokingly threaten to spank the grandkids. The kids would sit on the couch and the pits would lay across their laps so they couldn’t be moved.

Belgian Malinois are serious working dogs with really high prey drive. People get these dogs not knowing what they are. A woman who lived near my father was walking down the street with a 1 year old Neapolitan mastiff pulling her down the road. It saw another dog and she couldn't hold on to it anymore. I helped her get the dog back. She bought it at the local mall and had no idea how big it would get. Luckily the dog wasn't aggressive.
