I agree. She has a very pretty face and hair, and I can’t imagine why anyone would voluntarily wear that hideous garment.
They’re pissed because he’s right. While she has a lovely face, the rest of her picture is just revolting.

I’m curious how many posters on this thread have wives who are a similar shape. I’m going to guess most of them. And how many posters on this thread are fat or old enough to look like saggy baggy elephants?

In the case of Sports Illustrated, they take a break from actual sports coverage for their annual swimsuit issue. They were commonly criticized by people who were probably never frequent readers because the swimsuit issue featured supermodels, and supposedly created an unrealistic expectation of beauty.
But I haven't read Sports Illustrated in a long, long time though I was once a subscriber. It seems as though even their sports coverage is dominated by political and cultural subtext. No surprise that this special issue has taken on a feminist slant.
Sports Illustrated is just one more institution that has been dragged down by people who find excellence to be threatening.

I’d venture to guess a majority.
Difference is they don’t get put up on the cover of Sports Illustrateed as the symbol of beauty and sexiness. Nor would they want to.
The criticism you see here is not so much about her as it is about SI trying to redefine for us what’s beautiful.
Years ago I was in the jewelery business and would receive a few trade magazines gratis. National Jeweler, Modern Jeweler stuff like that. My now ex wife would grab them out of the mail and use a sharpie to draw bikinis on the models because she didn’t think that much nudity was necessary to demonstrate a necklace. She also wanted to remove the temptation of the flesh from before my eyes.
This cover does not represent a temptation. However it does remind me of most middle age and older ladies. Rather hard to find a female over 40 that isn’t built like this.
Just my 2 cents worth and now that will buy you a teaspoon of gas.

There is a link in the post...it was kind of funny, because I saw that about a year ago and I was visualizing it from memory...I had to go back and watch it again to see if my brain remembered it right, and it wasn’t perfect, but close...at my age, I appreciate that!

Having said that, if SI wants to continue the swimsuit issue, they should just produce what the subscribers want, and not appease the most strident voices, who are unlikely to be subscribers in any event.
