The problem is they are regulating cars out of existence. So in five or six years when you are ready to buy one you won’t be able to. In fact the most recent CAFE requirements Biden announced a few months are impossible to meet.

US car companies are finally getting what they’ve wanted all along. To go to made to order. No more cars as commodities and consumers able to haggle.

We are now stuck with the European model.

Order one and wait.

Something else to thank Deep State for.

CAFE standard aren’t about saving the planet any more than CoupFlu policy is about protecting public health.

The goal to is to impoverish and immobilize Americans.

Most car buyers simply do not want EVs or even hybrids.

~~~
I think my next car will by a hybrid.
I want nothing to do with an electric vehicle and having to plug in all the time. However, I’ve driven hybrids a few times, including rentals, I am amazed by how well they are able to recover kinetic energy back into the system that is wasted on braking in normal combustion driven vehicles. The nice thing about a hybrid is that your batteries are recharged either by recovered energy or from the combustion engine, and you aren’t on the short-leash to the electric grid.
My favorite car salesman has been telling me for some time that he’s experience big push back from customers over the EVs.
I suspect the reason GM/Ford/ETC are pushing EV hybrids is because the increases in the fuel/mileage standards.
> Most car buyers simply do not want EVs or even hybrids. GM, Ford and VW have made huge capital investments that simply will never turn a profit and will be a constant drag.
Its not the automaker's fault, they have been forced into managing their planned decline by the WEF Oligarchs via financial blackmail and Administrative State regulation.
Refusal to comply with the WEF/ESG worldview would result in a sell off of Institutional stock holdings (ie. Blackrock, pension funds, etc) coupled with Governmental lawsuits and fines for failing to meet capricious regulations (i.e. CAFE, emissions, etc).
“they are selling them before the delivery truck ever gets there with the car.”
You bet. Our local Toyota dealer has about 20 cars on their “board”. All sold before they hit the lot. People can come into the lobby, see the board, and buy whatever is available.
I have the same thing with my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with about 48K miles. The local dealer sends an email every 4-5 days offering one deal or another.
Economic guy I follow over on YouTube is saying to hold off if you can on any car or home purchases right now. Look to the 4th quarter to great pricing on these assets.
Geely has a 15K electric that would sell well here in the US.
Available in OZ and Newzy.
75K for a truck?
45K for an SUV?
25K for a Corolla?
Sorry, I’m not that stupid.
Prices are not dropping in my area.
I frequently see online ‘deals’ with Internet prices higher than the MSRPs printed in the ads. I thought initially thought they were a webmaster errors, but I have seen them multiple times on different vehicle websites.
I frequently get letters from local Ford dealer claiming my 2018 (bought new) is now worth more than what I paid for it.
That is correct. CAFE has screwed up cars in more ways than most people know. At least a third of the cost of a car is due to CAFE compliance. Now the goal is to make it impossible to make one. You WILL buy an EV serf.
Local dealer is demanding extra profit margins over and above regular sticker prices. 10,000 on boring cars to over $50.000 on a hotter model.
We walked out.
You are entirely correct. John Deere and Cat are also gravitating to order and wait. No dealer inventory except for loaners or rentals until your new vehicle arrives to the dealer. I many cases it makes a lot of sense.
