another thought was perhaps a lion or tiger or some large carnivore that punctured the skull with a canine tooth- maybe it was a gorilla that was killed by another gorilla bite- and they just dumped the carcass in the woods- who knows-

If I’ve learned one thing from studying strange things, it’s that 19th Century journalism/reportage is not to be trusted.
there is an illegal animal trade though in countries- folks have exotic pets- and unfortunately let them go, or dispose of them when they get too unruly, or too expensive to keep or whatever- could also have come from some shabby personal zoo or wildlife refuge or whatever-

Carl Sagan was wrong, and that’s why we haven’t identified seti signals either. Scientists are looking for a repeating signal, so they can study it ad-nauseum.
One time signals are discarded with prejudice, by self-righteous scientists.,.
But back to the skull.
Looks like there will be a lot of crow eating skeptics once this skull is confirmed, and a lot of vindicated witnesses.
Nothing has changed. Reporters have never nor will they ever be anything but professional liars. Same as politicians and actors.

There are groups now claiming that they are aliens- and claim that sightings ‘usually happen at the same time as ufo sightings in an area-
There is a show on TV called ‘Monsters in America” that showcased events where supposedly bigfeet materialized and disappeared- but like all shows like that- it’s just crypto stuff that is hard to take seriously- those shows love to qualify their witnesses as ‘impeccable’ and unassailable credibility wise- as thoi8gh there aren’t wacky ‘upstanding citizens’ in their communities- John Wayne Gacy was an ‘upstanding citizen’ who was given the key to his city- little did anyone realize what a monster he was-

Today it’s usually for political reasons. Back then it was a matter of filling column-inches to justify advertising.

I like the way the photos are taken in such a way that you really can’t see the whole thing. Sure looks like a snout, hidden by the position of his hand or the limits of the photo in every shot. But, they are focused very well.

There is a certain amount of circumstantial evidence that seems to link different Fortean phenomena. There’s a good chance that someone whose testimony you would trust has had something off-the-wall happen to them.
Me? I’ve never seen sh!t.

I used to watch the ghost investigation shows as a skeptic- and they always had circumstantial evidence that they boldly declared was proof of a ghost. for instance, they investigated lizzy bordon’s home i believe it was, and they walked into a room, and the dresser door opened- right away they declared a ‘presence’ in the room and ‘got spooked’, but as they moved aroudn the room, i heard the floorboards squeaking quite a bit, indicating that they were quite loose- as soon as they walked into the room, they very well could have stepped on a floorboard that sunk and that tilted the dresser forward just enough that the door opened up-
but woudl they consider any other explanation? Nope- it had to be lizzy-
another show they were in an old abandoned asylum- one of the crew went upstairs, and lo and behold, a ball rolled across the long hall into another room- immediately they declared it a ‘playful child ghost’- as they walked through the hall, you could hear the wind blowing outside, coming in through broken out windows-
they always seem to have a ‘skeptic’ on the shows too- but their skeptics never seem to consider that anything else could account for what they see and hear-
I don’t doubt that many people have had weird things that they can’t explain happen, but there are myraid natural explanations that could account for what they saw and or heard too-
In my much younger days there was a UFO flap in our town.
Reports on every radio station and TV channel.
Everyone in my neighborhood peeled out in the streets and back yards to see them. Everyone saw the lights in the sky, saw them go over our houses, descend and land in the swamp behind us.
Every one except me. I didn't see sh!t.
Mom turns to dad and says "uh, maybe we should have the kid's eyes checked..."
Nearly as blind as a bat. I got glasses, an amazing experience! Trees have leaves! The moon is a single clear crescent! There are actual words on the blackboard!
So for many years, I quite literally owed my good vision to UFOs, which I still have never seen!
Under communism, every word, act, gesture, or event is political.
