GEEZE the damn cars run $60,000.00 and they can’t give you heated seats REALLY??
This is the new business model for autos. Options are subscription based. Also, cars are all built to order. If you need a car at the time of purchase the dealership will rent you a vehicle until the new one arrives.
Caterpillar and John Deere are doing the same.
“And if you disconnect the car from the internet, the car won’t operate.”
Such as when the Tesla cars failed to run.
This is not satire. The entire industry is moving this direction very quickly.
Never owned a BMW, now I surely won’t.
There was a story a few weeks ago from the EU. Base model BMWs came equipped with air conditioning. But the software package did not allow the AC to be used. If you wanted the software changed to allow the AC to used, you had to cough up several hundred additional €.
My backside heats my seat ,LOL
What’s the fee for working breaks?
Yup, like paying for a toaster, then paying a monthly fee to be able to use it.
Does BMW charge for blinker fluid too? Their owners don’t use much of it.
“They should be ashamed of themselves.”
No, the ones that should be ashamed are the fools who buy their cars.
The elites rea,,y real,y do not like people owning things themselves. Adobe went the subscription platform years ago too. No monthly pay, no play. I don’t know if it’s still, the policy, but I read that if you stop paying, the work you do which is stored in the cloud, is locked? I never bought the service, so I can’t know,if that was true or not. If so, wow.
“Charging for its use on top of that is the epitome of greed.”
Paying for it is the epitome of stupidity.
Greed is not the problem - stupidity is.
Might be a good investment to buy a bunch of older new cars without the stupid money they fees, and sell them if this crsp ever becomes mandatory for new vehicles. The demand for older cars Wil. Be massive.
BMW: Also, it would be a shame if the brakes stopped working. You should upgrade to the super deluxe package…
“This of course assumes a marketplace where competition offers an alternative at a lower price.”
You can be sure that such will be the case.
“I’m sorry Dave, I can’t open the garage door.”
I’m sorry Dave, I can’t allow you in the car.
Even if you pay cash for the car, processing and taxes, you have to argue your way through all the monthly payment add-ons the dealer has to try and rope you into. Satellite radio, On-Star or like connection service. If they can figure out a way to charge by each use for AC, heat, defrost, wipers, radio, bluetooth connections, milage information, navigation, tire pressure, or anything else they can turn off wirelessly, they will eventually do it.
Another reason to never buy a BMW.
This is why prices for used cars are going sky high.
