It would be safe if it does not come in contact with water! During an accident at sea or during a storm on land, if the container breaks open it becomes explosive just like elemental hydrogen.
two questions... What else does it release besides hydrogen. And how costly is it to make?
Si + 2H2O -> SiO2 + 2H2.......................
Any info at what pressure the H2 is adsorbed by the Si? Trans port of H2 is done every day in refineries where they have a Reformer. Transport of H2 in LIQUID form is where the magic lies. Are we being sold Chinese snake oil? Nothing is mentioned about H2 embrittlement. Why not?
Eat Sit?
Are they telling us something here?
10 billion flies can’t be wrong.........................
Right now I am making a TiH2 solid solution in the laboratory. Just surfing FR waiting for the reaction to complete. Yes I am doing this.
The H2 seems to be adsorbed by the Si.( That’s why the bubbling in water) It is not a chemical bond. It seems more like a hydrate. We have plenty of natural gas in hydrate form on either coast at great water depths. Yes, it is “nasty” fossil gas. /s.
You are a true winner. I bet you believe in MAGA, don’t you? Vote hard and vote often.
Sounds as safe and easy to handle as lithium aluminum hydride.
Let me guess: 50 pounds of sand for every pound of hydrogen?
Metal hydrides have been a safe way of storing and transporting hydrogen, problem is, metal is heavy. This is pretty cool.
Ah, I see it is 30:4
My reaction is complete.
And?
Titanium is now completely black. It worked.
I can think of a lot of other uses for this.
The Si+ powder can be made using a (preferably renewable) energy source, as well as metallurgical-grade silicon “
In other words it takes more energy to produce and charge then it will release. Even if a magical perpetual motion energy source comes along the watermelons will never allow it. The watermelons want ZERO energy.
I store hydrogen as methane. Ask my wife.
