Just finished The Americans for the second time. A very good series.
I think I had a different perspective, because I held a TS Security Clearance in the Air Force and was fully aware of the methods of compromise that they portrayed on the show. We were told to report any suspicious contact of any kind. We also knew that the compromise threat could be our own Security Service attempting a sting operation.
The Walker Spy Ring had already compromised the NSA equipment I worked with when I was in.

Couple of years ago needed to renew drivers license
Showed the DMV my birth certificate from the county where I was born
Told no longer acceptable - had to write to Albany for the state department of records and get an official birth certificate (with embossed seal !) Cost me $50
