It's not worth the risk to use 'artificial' stuff, unless it's medically necessary..............
They’re still better than NutraSweet.
The study was published in Cell and sponsored by Equal and Stevia....LOL Just kidding
This year I would get a numb / pins and needles feeling below the knees and it would get worse as I slept that it would wake me up.
I stopped drinking Sunkist Orange zero sugar and in less then 2 days I feel great. It uses Aspartame and delicious phenylketonurics and phenyalanine.
Mayo Clinic: Federal regulations require that any beverage or food that contains aspartame bear this warning: “Phenylketonurics: Contains phenylalanine.
Phenylalanine can cause intellectual disabilities, brain damage, seizures and other problems in people with PKU.
Hmm... this may explain many things......
Erythritol - being one of the most harmless of sugar replacements,
is not without a few negative side effects.
But they are not that bad. It's a risk/reward trade-off.
It is very similar to Xylitol - but slightly better.
(And it used to be more expensive - but it's come down in price.)
I use it.
Erythritol Side Effects : Good, Bad...
.
NOTE: I also occasionally use Stevia - now that my stomach
no longer gets upset by it. My stomach did when I first tried it years ago.
The affect on glucose tolerance at least for me has more to do with the maltose and maltidextrin added to the brands you see on your grocer’s shelf. I learned this the hard way. Switching to a combination of sucralose, erythritol and monkfruit (special order no malt anything) and my blood glucose stays rock solid. YMMV
As usual, most nutrition research is utter garbage. When the end result is “gut biome”, it is meaningless. Why? Because your gut bacteria change depending on what you eat, and NO ONE knows what is “healthy”.
It is like a study that determines good or bad by total cholesterol. If - as many now believe - cholesterol levels are almost meaningless, then any study based on determining how X affects total cholesterol (or total LDL cholesterol) is meaningless.
FWIW, I use a lot of Splenda (while doing Keto and IF) and watched my health dramatically improve. Because of Splenda? No, because of keto (near carnivore) and fasting.
And Splenda is vastly better for most people health wise than SUGAR!
“1 TABLESPOON (13 grams) of White Sugar has 49 calories.”
A 12 ounce can of Coke has 2.6 tablespoons of sugar - 127.4 kcal per can just from the sugar. I know people who drink Coke all day every day, and none of them are height/weight proportionate.
