That will either:
Give the asteroid a slight nudge. (It’s probably a nickel-iron solid body if it holds together.) With the scale of space involved, “slight” means it will miss Earth by millions of miles.
Break up the asteroid. (More likely, as many are essentially closer to gravel piles than solid “rocks”.) The force will still put the pieces on new trajectories, slightly different than the old trajectory. Once again, with the scale of space involved, “slight” means they will miss by millions of miles.
Ya know, it just occurred to me, these people do a lot of self-destructive stuff anyway...
The nightmare scenario is you break the thing into several pieces some of which still head for the Earth.
That could make the problem worse.

Many warnings to the individual and church, and about “apostacy”, worldly and demonic infiltration and ecumenical compromise, etc...
Then blessing for those who read and meditate on the “Revealing of Christ and His holiness, and justice”, and His total power and sovereignty over evil hearts of men, and Satan!

Earth Destroying Event
Well...
There's a book I've read (and refer to frequently) that has predicted events hundreds of years into the future.It'll be interesting to see/hear how certain events are described in the media of the future.
But this is NOT how it is in actuality.
The baricenter of the earth-moon system is below the surface of the earth, and THAT point is what is going around the sun smoothly.
This picture is NOT accurate, but a lot closer to reality than 99.999 of the ones we see all the time.
