Brawndo...it’s got electrolytes!
Brawndo Batteries - What EVs crave!
Able to burn your house down even faster.
Today, the energy density of hydrocarbon fuels is 13 times higher than batteries. If they double the battery energy density (a HUGE accomplishment), then they are still 1/6 to 1/7 of the energy storage of hydrocarbon fuels.
I’m too slow!
Brawndo at Post #2. That made my day.
Well played!
Too bad there isn’t enough Lithium in the world to make the batteries needed to go electric.
“Too bad there isn’t enough Lithium in the world to make the batteries needed to go electric.”
There is.
“Today, the energy density of hydrocarbon fuels is 13 times higher than batteries. “
And 80% gets lost to waste heat.
Thank you for posting.
EV technology needs to be pioneered and "domesticated" imo.
In the meanwhile...
A percentage of power gets lost due to internal battery resistance, including when charging.
And speaking of charging, not only are EV lithium batteries known to not hold their charge when weather gets cold, but it surprised me that batteries are claimed to take longer to charge when they are cold.
EV CHARGING IN COLD TEMPERATURES COULD POSE CHALLENGES FOR DRIVERS (7.30.2018)
Corrections, insights welcome.
Free Beer Tomorrow! Yay!
From your link: “Funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO).”
Jennifer Granholm, the perky and corrupt former governor of MI runs a DOE full of EV evangelicals and insider traders in EV and related green energy stocks.
Just my perception of course.
4 gallons of gas has more energy then the entire battery pack of a F-150 truck.
And IC engines are only about 20% efficient in using all that energy. Special racing engines can get as high as 50%, but would be too complicated and expensive for street use..................
Yep. Riding with 20 gallons of gasoline is a disaster waiting to happen. Two dead
“4 gallons of gas has more energy then the entire battery pack of a F-150 truck.”
20 gallons of gas has more usable energy then the entire battery pack of a F-150 truck.
The day the force us into these ridiculous toy EVs is the day I start taking lithium.
