As taught by ‘journolism skools’. Like politicians, they use weasel words, so that they can twist their words into anything they want.
As stated by BJ Klintoon, “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the—if he—if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing.”
Bite me with your lack of respect for our sovereignty.
We pay the cops to have good judgment. If they can't manage that, they need to find another line of work. "Welcome to Wal*Mart" might not be too complicated for them.
‘What are they going to do with a perp shooting a long gun, yell “Stop, we have you covered?”’
Well, yes, that’s what they are supposed to do. Cops are not supposed to just summarily execute people because they happen to be carrying a gun.
If he did something stupid like raised and pointed the rifle at the cops, then that’s a different story, because they have every right to defend themselves. But if you or I cannot claim self defense if we shot someone on sight just because they were carrying a rifle, then the police cannot claim it either.
Journalistic wording is nearly non existent anymore. Lucky that journalists are getting some honorable money in the ominbus spending bill eh?
What are you talking about? He was from California.
“Why do they write this way????”
Because they are illiterates and they have no editors?
You can bet all these scribblers have college degrees, and their communications skills are worse than those of a guy from 100 years ago with a grammar school education.
ESL?…
That writing is nowhere near as bad as some I’ve read lately. The sentence structure makes sense.
Even worse.
Egad. This is sad. I watched it again-first, if I even had an inkling there was someone in the house, I for damn sure wouldn’t be carrying that weapon in one hand as if it were a damned mop and he is walking around like he is deciding to clean up some spilled drink or something.
It is all wrong.
And I am with ProtectOurFreedom on this. If I had family members in the house, that would completely be one thing, but I wouldn’t be waltzing around dangling my weapon at the ground. I would be in the house with all the family members, trying to figure out how to get them out.
And if he didn’t have family in the house, like ProtectOurFreedom says, I would be running for a treeline or another house. Or somewhere away from the house.
I might well hunker down and look back at the house for signs of the intruder, but at that point, even if I was on my own property, I wouldn’t shoot the guy unless he was coming towards me or shooting. That is asking for trouble, even under Texas law I believe.
Doesn’t Texas train cops on approaching the armed homeowner? Teach them there are many lawful armed homeowners in Texas?
And the legally armed homeowner should be trained to choose between investigating on his own, or holing up in a defensible position and calling 911.
Which doesn’t lessen the need for improved police training. See the case of poor Atatiana Jefferson.
PIGS
Why? Because they are college graduates and colleges / universities do not teach journalism (or any other discipline) any longer. Now they teach wokism, social justice, CRT, and leftist indoctrination. Doesn’t matter if you can read, write or use critical thinking skills to earn a degree. You just need to spew the correct political thought and you graduate with honors.
Meh.
Trying to destroy FR one post at a time? Raj was a Christian. But, who cares, lets slam his nationality.
He’s did more to make this country successful than you could ever imagine. A mind as small as yours could not begin to imagine that type of success.
Can you imagine what our country would look like without the likes of this guy? Carnegie? DuPont? Musk? You know..all those invaders.
You are a low intelligence bigot. You should be ashamed of yourself.
To find the nearest donut shop?
What a mess. That guy was just asking for it the way he’s wandering around shooting towards his house. I call drugs or alcohol on his part. The cops could have done better by calling out and asking if he was the homeowner, but not much better given the situation with shots being fired and the homeowner also not calling out to the cops. Bad scene all around.
Says an anonymous guy on the internet to another. You talk pretty tough on here all the time from you safe space where people can’t put their hands on you. You’re a coward. I’ll give you the last word as tiny men like you need that.
99% of the time, I suspect deadly assaults with firearms take place with a perpetrator OUTSIDE a house firing at an occupant INSIDE the house, so I simply don’t see it as a leap of incompetence that the police would interpret the guy who was outside actively shooting when they pulled up (two shots, I believe)
Point is, he wasn’t just walking around with a weapon. He was actively shooting it. Into a house.
I blame 99% of this on the guy with the weapon. I think it is unfortunate, but having a weapon implies great responsibility, and I just don’t think what he did could be characterized as responsible in any sense.
