I’ve been adding a touch of rum to eggnog this cold and dreary winter. That was sure good!

The eggnog finally ran out last week, so now I can concentrate on getting my holiday pounds off! The scale has FINALLY turned southward since the eggnog gave out. Well, maybe more fruit, veggies and going to the gym has helped, too.

I’d never before added rum to my eggnog in all my long years. I sure missed a lot!

On a couple of particularly cold mornings during Christmas, a good friend showed me the value of a little splash of Bailey’s in our morning coffee. I now have a bottle of Bailey’s in my liquor cabinet for future cold (weekend) mornings.

Not rum, but it’ll give you a nice warm feeling and it’s tasty as well.

We like Bailey's a lot and have for decades. There's a bottle in the cupboard, but we actually haven't opened it this season! It sounds good in coffee.

We've had a couple of spectacular hot coffee drinks at the Cedars Floating Restaurant on Lake Coeur d'Alene this winter...

My wife and I normally don’t get coffee drinks at night, but it was frigid outside and they sounded good to both of us. I don’t remember another time we’ve both ordered a hot coffee drink at any time! It sure hit the spot.

It’s a very good restaurant, by the way. A local favorite.

That Cedars Coffee reminds me of a coffee drink my little sister used to fix for me when she was a bartender at the Mallory Hotel in Portland, many years ago. IIRC, it was coffee with Frangelico, Bailey’s, and Kahlua, and she poured quite freely. Great on a cold, wet winter’s day, but I’d have to walk home or take the bus after a couple.

I used to like hot buttered rum, too, with Myer’s rum and whatever store-bought batter. Haven’t had that for a really long time.
