"I think it was the RNC begging for money for the election fight that never happened. Ask Ronna Romney where all that money went."

Good point. It makes me wonder if it wasn't another scheme to get Trump.

I feel like it’s good to have two excellent choices for President as opposed to the dumpster fire dims.

We would hope the result wasn’t both doing damage to each other to the point of weakening them too much to win the general. But anything could happen to either and we’d still have a strong alternative candidate.

I have President Trump as my main choice mainly because he’s already been successful at it, and absolutely doesn’t back down from conservative principals. Plus the left is going to criminal lengths to keep him out so that’s another plus.

Thanks Moe-Patrick. You are right. I originally appreciated the things I heard about DeSantis in Florida. The aggressive tactics of the DeSantis boosters, their fact free assertions and attacks on any who disagree, led me to start looking into DeSantis and the underlying issues. The more I learn the more I am disenchanted.

Yesterday I learned a lot about Reedy Creek. The picture being presented is misleading and frankly disingenuous. Not only is the timing indicative that the impetus is payback which is an unethical use of power but the rollout was botched leaving Disney a very good case in court. The timing and DeSantis statements make it likely that Disney will win it's law suit. The cost of DeSantis' vindictiveness will be borne by Floridians and is potentially very significant.

https://www.reuters.com/legal/desantis-tough-words-may-come-back-haunt-him-disney-lawsuit-experts-2023-04-28/

Disney claimed in its lawsuit that the state adopted a "targeted campaign of government retaliation — orchestrated at every step by Governor DeSantis as punishment for Disney’s protected speech."

The U.S. Supreme Court in a 2010 case known as Citizens United ruled that government could not limit political speech of corporations and other entities under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Florida’s gift to Walt Disney of a self-governing area of land south of Orlando was unprecedented at the time, experts say, necessitated by the fact that 1960′s Central Florida governments didn’t have the capability to host a theme park that welcomed millions of people each year.

More than 50 years later, the possible dissolution of the government that came from it, the Reedy Creek Improvement District, is equally unprecedented. ...snip...

Reedy Creek historically operates at a loss of approximately $5 to $10 million per year, per its financial reports. The current arrangement renders that meaningless since Disney is able to subsidize its own operations with theme park revenue.

According to lawmakers, though, there is as much as $1 billion in debt on the balance sheets that for which taxpayers would become responsible, possibly amounting to as much as thousands of dollars per household.

"What we haven’t seen is the dissolution of a district that is active, is of this size, and does not want to be dissolved,” Florida Association of Special Districts leader David Ramba said.

If the plan by Gov. Ron DeSantis goes through, Orange and Osceola counties would assume all assets and liabilities of Reedy Creek on June 1, 2023, much like they would if towns such as St. Cloud or Apopka dissolved.

Local governments would also absorb all of the district’s liabilities, including the enormous amount of debt on its books.Taxpayers would also be on the hook for items the company currently pays for, such as road improvements.

A similar situation played out in 2019 when commissioners voted for a $150 million renovation of Kirkman Road to accommodate Universal’s Epic Universe park, which many taxpayers called a waste.

“$150 million can go a lot farther,” one taxpayer said to leaders ahead of their vote. “Orange County is not so Epic.” ..snip..

Disney could also prevail in court, Ramba said, because state law requires special districts to be dissolved the same way they were created. Reedy Creek, he said, was not created during a special session.

In short DeSantis has shown that he is not mature enough, ethical enough or focused enough on his responsibilities to his office & constituents to even handle governing Florida let alone the USA where the repercussions of rash, ill considered and retaliatory actions have the potential for catastrophic consequences.

Desantis is my Governor and I voted for him each time.

Trump is my President and helped DeSantis.

No question his vote results are a model but unlike other states he has a legitimate legislature that cares about vote integrity.

If he becomes president he will face the wrath of the cabal unless he does go along to get along managing

Re support for candidates we shall see what his record will be as he’s not yet had to run that gauntlet nationwide
