Man I HATE the terms “gimmedats and diddunuffins.” So childish AND offensive.
How about just throw all of out the window and just refer to everyone “people”?????
I don’t understand the constant description changes. I don’t understand taking offense because someone isn’t up on the latest “feel good” description. People need to stop taking offense over words. If someone treats you like you are lesser that is offensive, the person treating you that way is offensive, not the words.
When I was growing up negro was the polite word, why is it now offensive? We won’t get together until we stop putting descriptions on each other.
> When I was young, Negro and negroid were the polite and correct terms for the common more vulgar terms frequently used. <
Yes, indeed. I’m old enough to remember that as well. Back then I lived in an ethnic neighborhood. No white person there referred to himself as “white”.
We were all Italians, or Slovaks, or Hungarians, etc. Odd, because few of us were actually born in the old country.
> That stuck with me and see no reason to be fashionable. <
For me, changing terms is a bit more than just being fashionable. I will use the term a person (or a group) prefers if it makes them happy AND if the term is reasonable.
Example #1: In the old days, someone who cleaned rooms, hallways, etc. was called a janitor. Now they prefer to be called custodians. That’s not unreasonable. So I will use “custodian”.
Example #2: I never worked with a tranny (to my knowledge). But I’d have great difficulty calling him a her. It’s just not reasonable.
> You make it offensive because of your feelings. <
No. It has nothing to do with my personal feelings towards a word. Instead, it’s having consideration for others. Please see my post #45. I kinda address that there.
But separation and wanting to be with your own kind isn’t “racist”, it’s “normal”.
That’s how people always have been, and always will be.
Changing the word “normal” to “racist” (a word which did not exist until the 1930s) to serve a political end is shameful.
this actually bothers you?
I use the term “ferals” to refer to the criminal class which includes all ages, races and ethnicities. Anyone who engages in crime and uncivilized behavior is a “feral”.
I refuse to use”gay” when referring to a homosexual.
Most all that crap is liberals trying to control society and force it into their mold with newspeak.
i will not comply.
Can you define it?
Absolutely. It is one of, if not the most, fluid word in English. Largely used as a weapon.
“NAACP”
National Ass’n for the Advancement of Colored People.
Yep, that’s the one.
Good for you!
I don’t care!
“people who annoy you”
“Teens” or maybe “aspiring rapper” seem to be ok to use.
Your explanation in post #45 is purely emotional. “For me, changing terms is a bit more than just being fashionable. I will use the term a person (or a group) prefers if it makes them happy AND if the term is reasonable.”
Personal example: My wife is Inupiaq. They prefer to be referred to as either Inupiaq or Eskimo. But, people like you, would label them Alaska Native, because you’re told Eskimo is offensive to them. Look up the word Eskimo. You’ll find there are two meanings and neither one is offensive. Words have meaning.
Yes, it does. And take a look at the great discussion in this thread. Maybe you’d like to share?
they are just words and blacks call themselves much worse names.
I was taught Negroes, Asian, and Caucasians are the 3 races. I don’t care who says what to who.
Negro.
Frankly, I think we should be allowed to use the N-word, as it is the most descriptive word for about 1/2 to 3/4 of African Americans. I also think it is racist not to be allowed to use the word, since it is about as common as MF’er in the colored community, but that is an essay for another day. As John Ridley, (a black dude, and director of 12 Years A Slave, said:) with me substituting XX for gg.
“That which retards us is the worst of “us,” those who disdain actual ascendancy gained by way of intellectual expansion and physical toil—who instead value the posture of an “urban,” a “street,” a “real” existence, no matter that such a culture threatens to render them extinct.
“Them” being nixxers.
I have no qualm about using the word nixxer. It is a word. It is in the English lexicon, and no amount of political correctness, no amputation into “the n-word”—as if by the castration of a few letters we should then be able to conceptualize its meaning without feeling its sting—will remove it from reality.
So I say this: It’s time for ascended blacks to wish nixxers good luck. Just as whites may be concerned with the good of all citizens but don’t travel their days worrying specifically about the well-being of hillbillies from Appalachia, we need to send nixxers on their way. We need to start extolling the most virtuous of ourselves. It is time to celebrate the New Black Americans—those who have sealed the Deal, who aren’t beholden to liberal indulgence any more than they are to the disdain of the hard Right. It is time to praise blacks who are merely undeniable in their individuality and exemplary in their levels of achievement.”
