Lucky you! I’d LOVE a 4’ stack of quilts!

Back in the day, I had QUITE the collection. I would buy anything I found at a thrift shop that was ‘quilted.’

Never did find any complete quilts, but the pillow shams and dresser scarves ended up as lots of hot pads and re-designed pillow shams through the years.

I have my Grandma Edith’s quilt from the 60’s that has many ‘scraps’ of clothing that we wore ‘back in the day.’ It’s hanging on our Dining Room wall and it brings back SO many memories. :) I’ll never part with it. Better put it in my Will that it will be buried or cremated with me, LOL!

Well, MAYBE I’ll give it to my younger Sister. Maybe. ;)

‘Popcorn!’ Love it! I love Crochet so much! Useful, Beautiful and Portable. :)

When my Dad (who was in my care) had a (seemingly!) dozen Doctor Appointments each week, I always took crochet along with me.

I can’t tell you the number of people that asked “What are you making?” “Can I watch?” “My Grandma used to do that!”

Fiber arts will always be loved. It’s ANCIENT. It’s hard-wired into our brains, I think! Though our numbers are dwindling, I see that it makes a ‘revival’ among the younger generation from time to time. :)

When my quilting buddy died in 2018, her casket was draped with one of the quilts that we hand-quilted in our local group. After she was buried, her husband gave it to their daughter. Daughter doesn’t appreciate it at ALL, but maybe she will some day.

I don’t know. My wife is the expert, and she’s not on FR.

LOL After the 3rd person asked me what I was making I decided to do the couple of stitches needed to finish one up. It's much easier to show them than it is to explain.

Is that to call in other turkeys, or other animals? Beau is always ‘practicing’ on his calls.

Used to call in other turkeys.

First attempt at using Postimages. Thanks to those of you who helped me out. The drawing is my graphite of Gene Tierney. I recently completed this for our spring art show last March. Ms. Tierney lived in my hometown for a while and worked at a little dress shop downtown called Pellitiers. (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). When the house she owned became available for sale, we were able to tour it. So, I decided to draw her for art class. Here is my attempt to post, and if this doesn't work, and you want to see the finished product, I'm happy to email it to you. LOL.

So, using the bones of previous victims to call in new victims? LOL!

Now THAT is ‘recycling!’ Beau got us a nice 22# Tom this spring. That guy had a lot of meat on him!

He’s all neatly portioned, vacuum sealed and in the freezer for now. ;)

Just looked out the kitchen window to the pasture, and our beef steer is enjoying his summer grazing with the heifers. Don’t tell him, but he has the same fate awaiting him. ‘Gather ye Rose-buds while ye may,’ Chuck! ;)

Hard to tell the Suze. I used to make easy dresses for my daughter and nieces. Just take a nice tshirt and some complimentary floral or calico cotton, and serge the bottom to the top at the natural waist line, allow for some gathering. Makes a great and easy summer dress.

I’ve only bought two quilts at sales. One I donated to a museum and the other is a darling crib quilt with hearts. It looked horrible, dirty and some rust stains. The owner insisted on 10.00 but I said I don’t think those stains will ever come out, too bad and started to walk away. Bought it for 5 bucks. And all the stains came out.

Daughters 4h club had about 15 stalls one year at fair. How to decorate on the cheap? Took a super big crochet hook and a bunch of green hay twine and crocheted a long chain. Once up the kids hung their stall signs, photo, and ribbons from it. To me crochet is so creative. You could even make a hook out of wood if you had to and use different materials.

Re: Quilts.

Same for a friend who lost her Mother. It was WONDERFUL to see all of Kaye’s quilts on the backs of the pews in church.

Anyone that had been lucky enough to be gifted with one from Kaye in this life was glad to bring it along. :)

“all of Kaye’s quilts on the backs of the pews in church.”

How sweet. And what a good idea!

This just came up on my FB feed - really pretty baby blanket. The stitches are basic .... it's a "corner to corner" technique.
