“Lol. Encountered, not encountered.”

I believe ENCOURAGED was the word you were thrashing around for?

I ate plenty of Bologna Sandwiches when a toddler.

We ate plenty of Bologna, Braunschweiger and liverwurst when I was growing up. These cold cuts were better than average because they came from a German butcher shop.

Youngest Son was asked last year what he was planning to do over summer. He shrugged and said, "Idonno". I told him that he was now the assistent gardener and canning sou chef.

Asked him what he had planed for this summer he said, "Garden and can?"

I said "that's my boy!"

I don’t understand what the great mystery with the Gen X parents like my kids.

You just don’t have snacks. 3 times a day set out a meal and say you can have as much as you like but only what’s on the table.

My mother said I ate my brother’s spinach after he threw it up. Just saying...

Raw spinach in a salad is fine to me. Cooked spinach triggers a gag reflex in me and I cannot swallow it.

That looks yummy.
Container’s too small, though.

I read it three times to make sure my lyin’ eyes weren’t goofing me. I had to laugh. You brought a smile to my day. 😁

Amen. But there’s always hope the parents will get something across like survival skills.

What a great kid.

Asked the nephews (tween and teen ages) to bring in some tomatoes from the garden. Oh, no! That would mean going outside of the safety of inside!!!! They refused to go into the attached garage to see the newborn kitties. What if the new born still closed eyed monster bite? They wouldn’t even help hubs with the grill on the back porch. Found out they’d never gone into their own backyard... sigh.

Well it’s not just about the lobster. It’s about variety. Good for him. My nephew in law, whose now in his late 40s, was totally catered to, and his taste never grew. He’s all about the plain cheese and bread stuff. Cheese pizza, cheese crisps, mac and cheese. Chicken nuggets is the most “adventurous” he gets. He eats like a 4 year old, because nobody ever introduced him to anything.

You think it’s a bad thing to introduce a child to a variety of foods? Why would you think such a thing?
