Get a cheap mini computer and make your TV really smart. I use cheap Mac Mini computers and bluetooth keyboards, have for nearly twenty years.
Maybe but it for sure is the best one. Any sport that can afford to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to an athlete doesn't need my money. They have priced themselves out of the entertainment business, I would rather watch a guy struggle in the woods to build a log cabin than fawn over some overpaid America hater like Kapo or Rapinoe.
Tivo with lifetime subscription, find them on eBay used they last forever. The new ones are 4k but I use the older ones they record up to 8 channels at a time, mystery to me how they manage that kind of recording on the same hard drive that I have in my computer that struggles to write one stream at a time.
Of course you can buy one new from Tivo, pretty good price right now, what you actually have to pay for is their TV guide service, think that is 3 or 4 hundred now. They also make cable and over the air versions.
Peacock is pretty good and there is also Hulu and FreeVee, free with commercials, I don't have time to look at much more. Paid FreeVee is provided by Amazon Prime. We have Prime because it pays for itself considering how much we buy through evil amazon.
Mostly it is an employee thing I imagine. Cable TV started as a way for people who lived no where near a TV station could get TV. CATV or Cable Antenna TV consisted of a company willing to put a massive antenna several hundred feet into the air to steal distant TV stations content, amplify them and distribute the signal over a wire to households at a cost of about $5.00 a month and that usually got you the big three.
The original Music videos by Gale Storm and Eddy Peapody's banjo or the Harmonicats played throughout the day. Test pattern preceded videos beginning at midnight.
Of course all we had before that was radio shows, loved them.
Exactly what we did but we dropped the land line. We have YouTube TV, FreeVee, Tubi & Amazon Prime but not a big fan of their TV services.
Don’t watch women’s soccer, in large part because of aholes like Rapinoe. How she became the face of women’s soccer in the US is beyond me. Mia Hamm was pretty cool.
I have no idea who Kapo is, and the best I can guess is it’s someone who plays for the NY Rangers? Big dud.
I take it you aren’t really a sports fan, or at least not the sports I indicated. Are you a basketball or baseball fan? Great. Happy for you. Not my cup of tea.
I was hoping not for snark from FR, I know, way too much to hope for. I naively thought there might be one other sports enthusiast who has found a solution to the cable tv problem.

Your tv may have Roku already. The Pluto tv app may be on your cell phone and tablet. If not you can go to the google playstore.
I watch the FREE Pluto tv and the FREE Youtube channels I subscribe to plus any random ones that pop up. I have the Amazon Prime app too.
A quick way to find the app is google for say: Pluto tv app, roku

I use my separate Roku box that is plugged into the tv’s hdmi port and installed the apps.
Roku - I use the Roku Ultra.
There is a Log in link in upper right. You create a free account. It links to the Roku player and will ask for a code. Best to use your computer to setup the account and find channels.

Internet modem cable to router to computer and Roku player. There are also wireless options.
You will need a hdmi cable from the Roku player to a hdmi port on the tv.
Roku Settings> Network will walk you thru setting up the internet connection.
Settings> System> Software update to get the new channels to show up in Roku’s main screen.
Also highlight the thumbnail and then use the Roku remote * button to bring up a menu> ‘Check for updates’
I do this with Pluto tv lately as their tv guide starts losing listings. They come back if you do the above and or look at another app then go back to Pluto tv.
You can ‘Move channel’ thumbnails around using the Roku remote arrows in the order you like.

Sorry I came across that way. I was a great Yankees fan when Micky was active, and I was an OU fan back in Wilkerson's day but really lost interest when they made it too expensive for average families to attend their extravaganza.
I don't watch any of it anymore for the same eason that I would not buy Bud lite even if I still drank, which I don't.
I have no problem with people enjoying their sport, I have just outlived the fun.

Thanks, I will check again. The last time I looked (maybe a year ago) there wasn’t that option - or perhaps I just overlooked it. I don’t recall even seeing an option for 1080p.
