There is more going on here ... not all the story.

“considering his proficiency in swimming.”
First reported he could not swimm.
Later a video show him barely swimming.
Now he is a proficient swimmer!
Helps the conspiracists!

I posted this from the same article from two days ago.
Where did the factoid that he was a proficient swimmer come from? Good question.
It's an unusual word to use in this case, as well as "avid" and "enthusiastic."
On the day it happened, I saw a news report that showed a video of him taking swimming lessons and saying "progress..."
It sounds to me like he was "enthusiastic" about learning to swim, he was "avid" in taking his lessons, and he was "proficient" at swimming like JFK Jr. was "proficient" at flying an airplane to Martha's Vineyard.
He wasn't "proficient," he was learning. It's no different than claiming someone who died in a car accident was a "proficient" driver despite still taking driving lessons.

I suspect a medical emergency, i.e. stroke or heart attack, which made him unable to cling to the board after he went into the water. Perhaps due to the covid shot.
If he worked for the Clintons I would wonder what really happened.

I agree. Looking at the video from the point of view of a WSI/Lifeguard, he can *barely* swim -- and the thing that hasn't been noted is that he's wearing FLIPPERS - in a pool!
If you can barely swim with flippers on, you have absolutely no chance if you spill unexpectedly off a paddleboard in open water - with no lifejacket.
It's a shame, but often the learning swimmer overestimates his ability more than somebody who doesn't swim at all.

What’s the deal with blacks and swimming?
Every single white person I know can swim.

Some people claim that the video shows him to be a weak swimmer, but from what I saw he looked 'good enough'. Certainly good enough to get to shore (given that the water is calm as claimed), or at least to his paddle board.
Be that as it may, my speculation is that he hit his head on the board when he fell, and became unconscious, or disoriented - neither of which are good when you are in the water. The bizzaro part, and what feeds the conspiracy, is that the local reports have been clearly covering up various details. Who was he with? Who called?
Speculative scenario (all invited because the 'authorities' are covering up basic info): the chef was paddle boarding with one of Obama's daughters. Chef fell off the board, and hit is head on the board. The daughter who was on the other paddle board didn't see the chef fall, but when she turned around he was gone (underneath the water), and she was the one who made the phone call.
Nothing nefarious, just a tragic accident. But why not go with this story? Was something else going on? Why hiding the name of the fellow paddle boarder? That's the strange part of event - and the silence just invites questions and speculations.

What about the bullet holes?

I feel certain that if one of PDJT’s servants died while “paddleboarding” at midnight near Mar-A-Lago, the MSM wouldn’t ask too many questions and would let the story die an early death.

The chef’s body was found eight feet underwater. I grew up with a close friend who was A-A. This statement confirms something he told me.

It’s still under investigation. Maybe he had a cramp or was intoxicated. Hit his head, then drowned. Bad drug reaction.

I don’t understand how this guy could have drowned
He looked to be in fantastic shape and water within an estuary aren’t a problem
I once swam from the Danta Cruz Boardwalk to the furthest body offshore, got caught in a riptide on the way back.
I has just trained on navigating a riptide, two weeks earlier.
I planed my body and Dean perpendicular to the shore for 1/2 mile before landing at the beach
This guy looks he could do that
