Yes, well, I was thinking along those lines, but in general we could say that doing laps in a pool does not guarantee a familiarity with the requirements of a natural underwater environment. I.e. holding your breath, keeping your eyes open, keeping relaxed, and moving with alacrity.

I think that black people have more muscle and less body fat, JMHO. Body fat - buouncy. Also, they are less likely to have swimming lessons when young, for whatever reasons.
Seems like more blacks are non swimmers as adults.
IMHO, there should be a push to teach all youngsters to swim.
