While I am not sure about this, it looks like it was a small section of road where a normal car might not be able to pass easily but the road it was mostly a passing zone.

Even in my car which might take a second or probably two longer than the Lambo it might even be safe for me.

the cops were looking for an excuse to show the rich city boys how it works in the country

If you have driven one of these, (especially you are the owner and used to it) I have driven, but know a few owners. These cars are very capable of doing amazing stuff in the right conditions if you have been driving the car for a long time and are used to depressing throttle around corners (never lift, or you can spin)

Between Carmel Highlands, and nearby Carmel and Pebble Beach, I imagine they see a lot of rich people.

It's "Car Week" in Monterey and today, Aug 19, is the Day Before the Big Day. The Big Show is the Concours d'Elegance in Carmel. Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of exotic cars descend on the Monterey Peninsula. Lots of car auctions to go spend your money on, too.

For all of us mere mortals, you can attend "CONCOURS D'LEMONS," an ugly oil stain on the Monterey and Pebble Beach Auto Week. It ended a couple hours ago, though.

It's like a Disneyland for grown-ups! Here are today's events:

MECUM AUTO AUCTIONS: MUSCLE CARS & MORE
ROLEX MONTEREY MOTORSPORTS REUNION
CONCORSO ITALIANO
PEBBLE BEACH RETROAUTO
RM SOTHEBY’S MONTEREY. Their flagship Monterey sale, held during the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance week, continues to raise the bar for collector car auctions year after year.
PEBBLE BEACH CLASSIC CAR FORUM
MONTEREY MOTORSPORTS FESTIVAL
EXOTICS ON BROADWAY, Seaside
ANNUAL FERRARI OWNERS CLUB GATHERING
GOODING & COMPANY'S PEBBLE BEACH AUCTION

The Big Daddy is tomorrow, Aug 20:
PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

My son and I went a few years back and it was fantastic. We got to Ocean Ave in Carmel very early on Sunday for breakfast and watched the huge parade of cars after they had completed their run down the coast to Big Sur.

I’ve never been to the Concours before, but I’ve been to Carmel and Pacific Grove at the time.

“Between Carmel Highlands, and nearby Carmel and Pebble Beach, I imagine they see a lot of rich people.”

but you still have to show them who is da’Boss especially the young’uns

in the community I grew up in the cops were into messing with the rich kids (mostly with cause, but not always), and then getting kickbacks from the parents for their amnesia.

The parents would thank the popo for giving little barbie and ken a ride so they would not get wet or sunburt or maybe even have to walk a few miles.

Back in the day, while stationed in a tiny hamlet outside if Strasbourg France, it was the monthly dare to run up I-4 up the curved mountain into Save the at speeds that would bury the speedometer of the gangster wagon ( The French version of the V W bug!!). Independent suspension would result in a frequent barf from the poor souls in the back seat.. Great memories never die

Long time back, a guy I was friends with raced a blasted-out 911, could road it cuz back in those days cops didn’t check internals all that well. He took me for a ride up in the hills on the east end of Red Hill Ave in Tustin, never been so scared in my entire life (white-knuckled, nauseous).

“this is national news? I got pulled over as a teen driving 120+”

You’re here so you definitely got over that idiocy.

I have driven Highway 1 many times. Going the speed limit is often going too fast!

At many places you have a 100 foot cliff to the ocean on one side and rock wall on the other, then there are the curves and at one point it becomes a one line road with stop lights allowing traffic to go first south then north.

(The one lane may be fixed now)

Presidio. Not Ord.

You have to be young, stupid, and immortal to try that.

I remember TVRs from the 1980s when I was in the UK. More angular then.

By the 80’s Ford had taken away access to their engines (289s, 427s) as they were outperforming Cobras at the drag races due to their very light weight, high rear-ends, and tubular construction.

Griffifh, the long Island Ford dealer who made the conversions, stopped selling them.
