One I finally watched last year, “The Best Years Of Our Lives”.
.
Any list of 100 great films that doesn't have "Breaker Morant" or "Chariots of Fire" on it is a joke. And "Groundhog Day" might be the most iconic movie of its generation that never gets old.
Ben Hur. Gladiator. A Dancin’ Wif Wolves. Jeremiah Johnson. Outlaw Josey Wales. The Searchers. Amadeus. It’s a Wonderful Life. Sergeant York. And last but not least, any Woody Allen movie /s.
Braveheart, Dances with Wolves and Stand By Me not even on the list? What a joke.
Rocky (original)
When one looks at the incredible long-shot attempt that that movie was, and how it captured gritty underdog Americana so perfectly, it would have to be in the top 50.
“Chicks With Dicks”
“Cycle sluts. I want to see Cycle Sluts”
“You don’t listen do ya asshole!?”
“If I had 2 organs I’d screw myself”.
Know the flicks?
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Yea, I should have added Groundhog Day to my list below. Throw in Airplane!, Caddyshack, and Animal House.
2) North By Northwest
3) Caddyshack
4) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
5) Doctor Strangelove
6) The Great Escape
7) Apocalypse Now
8) The Sound of Music
9) The Caine Mutiny
10) The Defiant Ones
I’d put night of the living fed in for citizen Kane.
“You use your mouth purtier than a twenty-dollar whore.”
Baseketball.
There are more than 100 movies that belong in the “top 100”.
That’s the nature of lists such as this.
What would be more informative would be a list of the 10,000 worst movies.
I agree. Gone with the Wind is good. A television mini-series was Roots. They’d never be able to air that now I think. Alex Haley wrote a good book and not a bad interpretation.
I was working as the ticket take at the Star Light Drive-In theater in Fargo when the movie was shown. It was only to be shown one or two nights. The movie was so popular that we kept it for a week.
Best Tears of their Lives, The Searchers, and They were expendable Casino just to name a few Very pseudo artsy list.
Grr
Night of the living dead.
Any list with Star Wars in it before LOTR? Not worth contemplating. Case closed.
They missed Ben Hur!
