Domestic turkeys can’t really fly, so yeah, throw them out of a helicopter, they’re gonna hit the ground.

I mentioned seeing wild turkeys flying because there are some ‘experts’ who have said wild turkeys can’t fly, they just glide down out of trees. Nope, they can move along.

I always thought that wild turkeys "flew" in the same manner as your namesake, Roadrunner ... they get up a good head of steam running on the ground, spread their wings, and glide for a distance.

Of course, I could be wrong, and probably am ...

Anyone notice the actor playing the store owner? Let’s just say he is Penske material.

I wonder how he thinks they get in up in trees to begin with?

Classic. TV shows were great back then.

Some years ago, I was driving from York, PA to Dillsburg via Rt 74 which goes through State Game Lands.

A bit in the distance I saw several female turkeys flying across the road from one stand of trees to the other. They were not flying very high but high enough.

Then the Tom turkey made the attempt.

There was a large pickup truck in front of me and let’s just say Tom flew slow and low and didn’t clear the pickup. If you ever want to know what it looks like when a turkey blows up, I think I can tell you.

I can also tell you what it’s like to pick turkey feathers out of the grill of a car and raw turkey meat off of a windshield, because even though I didn’t hit the bird and was following a “safe” distance behind the pickup, that bird blowed up real good.

Probably the single most funny thing ever on TV. Saw this at the original airing. Hysterical.

An F-4 hitting a turkey vulture is exponentially worse.
