Sounds like the Jim Ignatowski story but he started in the 60s.

In 1970, a gallon of gas cost 36 cents. Prices at a 1970s McDonalds: French Fries - $0.26 Big Mac - $0.65 Coke - $0.15

And then RINO Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard. Hilarity ensued.

The clothing and hairstyes were certainly the worst in American history. The 80s not much better for women.

Actually, the 70's were the last great decade...

You make an excellent case!

And sports were the best. It was the Golden Age of the NFL.

Baseball was great, when ballplayers were still household names.

And we had the Wishbone in college football.

We had our problems in the 70s, but I'll take them over what we have now any day of the week.

But I would still choose the 80s.

I discovered females, drugs, and beer in 1970’s. Pretty damn good decade.

The rest of the decade you squandered lol

The late 70s gave us disco demolition night, and the emergence of punk rock.

I have no idea why the last part of my post turned red, but I like it that way!

Same here, things being relative.

One thing for sure, we had a secure southern border back then. Never heard the word ‘’migrant’’ back then.

I see the 1970s as marking the destruction of the family when feminism convinced so many people that it was a good idea for mothers to leave their precious children in the care of strangers in order to pursue work outside the home.

Post of the thread.

Roe v. Wade, 1973, and quite a number of other bone-headed Supreme Court decisions in that decade dismantled marriage. Notice so many of the guys on the thread boasting about "women" in the 70s; i.e. free-for-all sex.

“I grew up in the 70’s, the worst part was Jimmy Carter.” The 1976 Mustang wasn’t much better!

Oh yeah, Carter years and disco..ugh..Sweet spot for cars was 1966-1971, then downhill for the rest of the 70s. Mid 70s brought us the best in SNL. 67-76 were my favorite years (music, cars, girls) with 69 as top of the charts..Always flooded with memories every time I hear "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams.

Man I hated ABBA _________________________________ Me Too! Yet now I have them in rotation on my Prime playlist. Go figure.

Thats funny cuz I hated ABBA too but they popped up on my youtube feed about a year ago and they are now in my rotation...pop music but it was good music.

I disagree, parts of it were bad, but the music was fantastic. Just the other night I came across a clip of a concert by Donny Hathaway, I then found and downloaded his Live Record from 1972, generally considered to be one of the best live Lp’s done, and I just had a lot of fun listening to his live version of The Ghetto which is just great. So there were some good things, it wasn’t all bad.

The top 10 sucked, but lower on the 1979 list you find Eagles, Doobies, Queen, Dire Strits, Supertramp, Charlie Daniels, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Tom Petty, Joe Jackson

Great point !!
