Yeah, that one is annoying, too, but personally for me, it’s the chop chant. Hated it since I was a kid.

As I always say, the suits ruin everything.

I see it here at the local level. Local organizations had run various fairs, festivals, parades, fund-raisers, etc. for decades. Their popularity attracted the attention of the political-minded, and their mindsets killed the local community spirit. People stopped volunteering because the camaraderie had been replaced by money-making or other agendas (going diverse or whatever).

Is there a mercy rule in the NCAA?

“Over which team?

Michigan, Washington, Texas or Alabama?”

Texas would be my first choice to replace with Georgia. Washington would be my second and third would be Alabama.

Maybe the Florida legislature can have an inquiry why the NCAA only allowed Florida State 3 points? They thought not ranking them in the top 4 was some conspiracy. Looks like ranking then in the top 20 was a mistake.

Why Auburn only used two rushers on the 4th down at the 31 yard line is a mystery to me. Milroe had all day to find a receiver. Asking a defensive back to stay that long on a receiver is dumb.

First Auburn did not have all of its players in the bowl game, nor did Maryland.

The top of the SEC is sill elite, but there are mediocre teams at the bottom. The SEC was not that dominant this season against other conferences as compared to previous years.

The last time there wasn’t an SEC team in the national championship was in 2014, nine years ago. The Ohio State Buckeyes of the Big Ten Conference went against the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12. This was also the first college football playoff final after replacing the BCS National championship.

I think the answer will only be obvious after the fact.

How do you see the playoffs? I’m not sure.

Michigan Texas final maybe.

The teams with superior NFL recruits sit out. Ohio is one of those teams that are superior in the talent department. Mizzou likely had full participation by the team in the game. In a year or so, the SEC will lose its edge. It came from their ability to stack recruits, they would promise players they would be on the team, then go out and continue to recruit. In other conferences, like the PAC 12, if they had 20 spots to fill with recruits, they were only allowed to offer 20. Not exactly that, but close. Alabama would have 20 spots, and would recruit 80. Other schools would quit pursuing the athletes they thought that Bama had in hand, and then Nick the Saban would have them walk on. Promising a spot next year, or maybe if someone wasn’t quite as good as they thought. Look at Colorado, they literally released recruits from scholarships. I didn’t know they could legally do that, it wasn’t common knowledge, or is that new?

Florida State:

Won the ACC
Went undefeated
Florida State’s 19-game win streak is the 2nd-longest active streak nationally, the 2nd-longest in FSU history and 3rd-longest in ACC history

Teams they played and beat this year:

LSU, Southern Miss, Boston College, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Duke, Wake Forest, Pittsburg, Miami, Northern Alabama, Florida, and Louisville.

So why aren’t they in the top 4 and considered for the national championship?

Because the committee that ranks the top 4 said:

According to the College Football Playoff selection committee protocol guidelines, the decision is made based upon a series of factors, one of which includes “unavailability of key players.”

In a statement by CNN’s Poppy Harlow and Phil Mattingly:

“This is not so much about the most deserving team, they felt that without Jordan (Travis), they weren’t going to be able to look as good on television, wouldn’t be able to have that many ratings.”

Today Florida State started third-string quarterback Brock Glenn and was missing most of their top skill players. They are testing next years players to find the best they currently have and don’t care if they win or lose. They got screwed so they are going to use the bowl for a glorified practice and ruin the bowl for the spectators and the sponsors. I guess they figured if they aren’t going to look that good, then won’t disappoint.

Everything is obvious in hindsight. I’m very glad the bowl committee decided that FSU was the odd man out. I always thought it was about strength of schedule. The ACC is traditionally a basketball conference. Football was a secondary option and only showed when Clempson started improving. Otherwise, it’s a basketball first conference. The total reason FSU went to the ACC instead of the SEC way back when was because they wanted to play weak football teams. FSU could’ve been in the SEC had they so chosen. Seminole fans can thank Bowden for that.

College football is almost unwatchable now. The playoffs are were a bad development, bowls were better. But the portal and NIL made it worse, and getting rid of conferences made it even worse.

The game has certainly changed. And definitely not for the better. Personally, I had no problem with the old bowl system. Sure there were occasional controversies but those just led to more college football talk. And NIL is a total game-changer. But I still prefer college ball - NFL teams up and move too much, change names, and have no fealty to their fans. Whereas college and the alums have a deep unbreakable tie.
