See the Saturn Hypothesis where long ago the Earth, Mars and later Venus were moons of Saturn which, with the other 4 gas giants, orbited much closer to the Sun. Something happened.

SETI is what I call Search for ExtraTerrestrial Idiots—because only humans are dumb enough to announce their locations so any alien race knows exactly where to go to invade.
Avi Loeb of Harvard has a much better approach—search for technological artifacts of dead civilizations—they may not have had the time or resources to cover up those artifacts in a time of crisis.

I remember as a youngster reading Chariots of the Gods by Erich von Däniken and thinking, wow, all this evidence of past aliens visits. Then years later it was all debunked. Some marvels of early engineering and lots of slave labor no doubt, but no alien visitations.
I do believe our imagination of how an alien encounter would go if such was possible is pretty accurate. They would either eat us, or we would kill and dissect them, which would drive them to eat us. I think God saw enough of our future when he created us to know we have enough challenges just getting along with ourselves. If He created another 'creation' such as ours, I think He was smart enough to ensure we never encounter each other. Seriously, would you trust man and human nature with a blessed creation?
Good answer. We were obviously built to look and learn and create.
To the rest of us, it's God's guarantee.

If our universe is expanding outward, that would indicate to me that beyond the furthest edge there is nothingness..
I'm of the belief that further out in that nothingness there is another universe that is expanding.
