I can only say one thing about the past week’s weather here in Central Missouri - IT SUCKS!

Spent a lot of time over the weekend keeping horse water open. Lost track of how many times I had to thaw the fountain. Air line to the pond bubbler froze up. Nothing I can do with that but wait for the weather to warm up enough to thaw the line.

Confirmed the inverter module in my portable generator is why it’s not working. Naturally the part is made of unobtanium so I’m going to have to replace the whole thing. Then when I went to put it back down on the floor the shop crane threw a fit and blew hydraulic oil all over me and the shop floor and the boat and the Kubota and the golf cart. I guess the oil was so thick due to the cold temps that it couldn’t move through the valving fast enough so it blasted out the filler plug opening in the lift cylinder.

Then this morning I got word that one of my best friends fell over dead yesterday evening.

To say it’s been a crappy week would be an understatement.

I wake up an hour before I leave for work so on cold mornings, I can put an old/weak/undersized battery on charge for a while to help make sure the vehicle starts.

Another thing that can help cold starts in this kind of weather is to hang a drop light (use 100-150 watt incandescent bulb) under the hood before you go to bed - don't forget to turn it on. Just that little bit of heat under the hood can make a world of difference on a cold morning.

((Augie))

So sorry for all of your troubles. I unexpectedly lost my BFF that way, too. It DOES suck. :(

I’m not sure if he’s passed or not, but he was having major health problems and he’s been away from FR for a good two years, now. (His name is Leon, in Real Life.) He was well into his 80’s.

I thought he would go on forever. :(

We were able to ‘Go Out Among The English’ today after 2 weeks of being at home. It was THRILLING, LOL!

Tonight we’re going out for Fish, then to watch some HS Basketball, which is always fun.

I’m going to wear my pretty Raccoon Headband. Where we live, no one admonishes you for wearing FUR in the winter months. :)

We’ve been spending the days taking warm water to everyone, and soaking dog food so the hunting dogs get enough water in them. And while it TERRIFIES me, the puppies have decided the best place to stay warm is lying up against the steer when he lays down for the day to chew his cud!

They have a totally insulated doghouse, surrounded by straw bales - even over top - but near Chuck is where they want to be unless they’re on the porch begging for treats. ;)

The heart wants what the heart wants!

I see Zinnia, beans, onions, lettuces, lots of herbs, a Clematis, strawberries, Marigolds, tomatoes, broccoli and peppers to name a few! :)

My sister has a very large house.

Outside her kitchen she has a Kitchen Garden...she loves to cook. Eating at her house, you never seem to finish.....she always has another delectable dish ready to serve.

Outside her dining room she has a Cutting Garden for flowers to use when setting the table.

Another garden outside the master bedroom is a Butterfly Garden planted w/ flowers that attract butterflies.

And outside the living room is a stylish garden of plants and flowers.
