When the golden age of TV started and stopped is all a matter of opinion.
When love scenes changed from kissing and suggestions of having sex to outright raunchy full nude sex scenes, that would be the end.
When language went from light weight cuss words like crap, turds, etc to F word being used in every other sentence, that’s when the golden age ended.
When TV started pushing leftist political agendas, that’s when the golden age ended.
When homos came out of the closet, that’s when the golden age ended.
When TV commercials became filled with political agendas and now wokeness, that’s when the golden age ended.
When cable TV (HBO & Showtime) went from first run movies right after the theater got them, but before they started producing their own trash, that’s when the golden age ended.
When the mainstream news channels went from occasional little white lies to outright full blown made up stories and other complete lies, that’s when the golden age ended.
I would say the beginning of the end would be the mid to late 90’s. Today the only TV worth watching is what is carefully selected from a streaming service that has no ads that one pays for.
The Golden Age of TV ran from 1955 to 1984. So did Captain Kangaroo. Coincidence? I think NOT!
I never watched the show. Never had the desire or interest to watch it.
I don’t believe there ever was a golden age of television.
METV has far better entertainment.
“Nolte: ‘Sopranos’ Creator David Chase Says TV’s Golden Age Is Dead”
Hell, just about everything good in the country is either dead or slowly being poisoned.

I’ve watched a lot of great shows on Prime/Netflix/PBS/Britbox and Apple+.
Wile there is a LOT of garbage, careful selection is highly rewarding.
There is no shortage of jewels.
It died when they stopped showing people smoking.
Coy and Vance had more talent than every HBO tv “actor” combined
Well check out the big brain on that guy...
The Golden Age of television ended in 1956 after the 39th and final episode of The Honeymooners aired.
Of course they “could.” But the producers today rely on CGI and old stories. I mean, how many times can Godzilla be resurrected?
Actually the Sopranos started the bad system of 10 episodes a year, and then you have to wait two years for the next season.
It brought us Yellowstone which just………stops mid season.
Is there much agreement about exactly what constitutes great television? I think X-Files screenwriter Darin Morgan’s shows, including “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose,” were great television. Also, there were a few genuinely great episodes of “House, M.D.” I tend to find really old television shows to be mediocre, however popular their stars were. The screenwriting just wasn’t there.
It’s all become predictable woke propaganda.
Of course if you can’t take the language and violence, there’s always the PAX TV version of The Sopranos

Communists have zero sense of humor.
Because most tv is liberal WOKE horseshit.
I thought Hill Street Blues was supposed to be the show that "changed television."
