“Ivory league” schools are not going anywhere thanks to the huge amounts of money Qatar and other foreign nations give them: https://isgap.org/post/2023/12/dark-money-nightmare-how-qatar-bought-the-ivy-league/

brutally insightful article

how many of us have seen this in a business? the founders conquer running uphill....the next gen exists solely to make life easy for themselves, because they are of lesser ability (or if not lesser ability, they couldn’t be bothered to try)

tanford, for instance, has 15,750 non-teaching employees — nearly double the amount of undergraduates at the school and almost seven times the number of faculty.

And why is tuition so high?!

Perhaps a tad less cynical. A little skinnier. Glasses a bit higher end. But platonically speaking, college admissions officers and DMV workers emanate toward the same form: the ultimate low busybody.

This is why we need writers in the world...

William F. Buckley was a Skull & Bones member. He seemed proud of it. Of course, I suppose it meant something back when he attended Yale.

Institutions start as “reactionary,” created by people deeply familiar with their subject matter and purpose. But, over time, founders leave, and the less knowledgeable take over. (Not only are they less knowledgeable, but they’re probably less passionate and less dedicated to the original mission; they’re just doing a job). These newcomers push the institution “leftward,” toward a less meritocratic, more “equal” sort of organization because they are themselves of less merit.

First class writer - first class thinker - the two don't usually come in the same person. What a joy to read.

The purpose of the Ivy League was for rich elites of medium drive and intellectual ability to match up with medium class people of brilliance and drive.

Poor super smart kid would marry rich girl and run her daddy’s company after 20 years.

Or Zuckerberg would get there and get 100 guys to fund his crazy idea of a website.

Mediocre poor people of color meeting mediocre gay people fails at this basic purpose.

“POSIWID,” systems engineer's acronym that stands for “the Purpose Of a System Is What It Does.”

This explains what we see as a corrupt CIA and FBI... and most of the DC bureaucracies...

2 employees for every student?

I wonder what typical ratios would be at other colleges. I do recall, that when I attended Frostburg State College in the 1970s, there were about 3000 students and approximately 500 employees at the college.

Of course colleges and universities need support staff to operate the institutions, but how many are really necessary? How many have been hired in recent years to administer affirmative action or DEI type programs?

I didn’t go to ah ivy league school but I went to a pretty good engineering college. Between 1967 and 1972 the only admin person that I dealt with face to face was my “advisor.” Toward the end of my freshman year I met with him. The only thing I remember from the discussion was his statement that “most students from Maine have flunked out by now.” I had a near perfect GPA. I pretty much figured these people are idiots.

When the organization is a nation, Conquest's laws describe the cycles of ascendancy and decadence.

Today, the USA is definitely controlled by a cabal of its enemies. Their objective is the destruction of the United States. Understand this, and everything makes sense.

The sooner the useful idiots who support this cabal realize this, the safer the world will be.

“Unless there are specific rules inside the organization to prevent rot, the institution will drift further and further left, until it is itself a microcosm of socialism — an organization that exists not for any purpose or progress beyond maximizing the quality of life of its members.”

I would add to that that Leftists only hire other Leftists, so once one gets in, the organization ratchets inexorably leftward.

I am particularly sick of only Harvard and Yale law school grads getting nominated for SCOTUS. Trump stopped doing that with Barrett. The Ivy Leaguers are the elites of U.S. society, but they are far from the best of us. Enough of the snobbery already.

Stanford has a lot of people working there.

No doubt there is a lot of administrative bloat but you have to remember that Stanford has a huge teaching hospital complete with a medical school. They also have SLAC, a nuclear particle accelerator and they have a huge number of graduate research programs.
