If you are just concerned about total plant kill I think that the horticultural type with 30% or higher concentration would give you a pretty through result. you could also add some isopropyl alcohol to your mix and see how that works on a small area. Because it does not kill roots you would need to reapply several times.

To avoid using Round Up I have replaced small sections of my lawn by spraying with vinegar, several times and then covering with a dark colored tarp. It worked pretty well. In this case I just want to remove the leaf coating so the weed killer will be more effective. (Did not get done yesterday, will probably do it today.)

Here is a question... what types of wood chips do you use in your bottomless bucket potato garden?

**I left the weighted light proof tarp on for a month or so before tilling and replanting. I suppose a layer of cardboard would work well if you wanted no till and just put a layer of dirt over it.

Whatever we chipped up from branches lying around the property
or trees that have come down in bad weather that we cut up for firewood. Birch, beech, hemlock, maple, whatever.

The other nice thing is that as they decompose, they enrich the soil, which ours really needs.

MM; Thanks!

I would have to get some from a Tree Trimming company at this point. Not sure I want to do that at this point. I will plant the seed potatos I have somewhere at this point, but , but I would be fighting my zone and the "terroir" at this point. (If I have a good place for the Sweet potatoes however, I think they have a good chance of growing.)
