CA min wage is now $20 but only at “fast food” places. If you work in a factory it’s $16.90 (la county) so who would want a factory job? MCd is basically a factory.

Used to be a Lenten treat for myself to get a McFish Sandwich one of the Fridays. Last time I went was years ago when I saw the price and the small bit of fish.
Now they’re up to almost $5. Glad I stopped going.

If you stop paying these ridiculous prices they will have to lower them or go out of business.

My guess is, as others pointed out, this is a high traffic location so they can get away with higher prices. Maybe higher costs given the locale, maybe inelastic demand (this location can charge $5 more per item and it won’t change the demand much) - Or some combination.
We hold MCD stock. It’s been doing great. We almost never eat there. I had stopped on some mornings to get a coffee and occasionally a McMuffin. For burgers there are way better places.
Maybe this hedge fund is short mcd stock.

That price isn’t that much for that tab.

Rent is probably higher there. Probably have to pay more to get workers to commute from the other side of the tracks. And maybe as noted, it doesn’t matter much if they charge a lot more people there will pay it anyway. If they didn’t they would lower the price or close the location.

7-11, Cumby’s, Wawa, or whatever your local convenience store is, will sell pretty much the same thing for less, but you’ll have to heat it up yourself.

New York-based Bespoke Investment Group wrote on X of the breakfast sandwich
How many of the people who work there voted for and/or donated to Biden?

Eat breakfast at home. A lot cheaper.

No one is forcing anyone to buy an Egg McMuffin.

I have lived away from the east coast for about 30 years now. When I visit, (mostly Philadelphia) I dine exclusively on my Wawa favorites. Amoroso rolls, deli meats and cheeses, bagels, coffee, hot soup, real Tastykakes, sandwiches, soft pretzels. Nothing else comes even close to Wawa. The Midwest makes a feeble attempt with "Kwik-Trip" stores.
People forget, Wawa was only a food market before the trend of combining with gas stations. If you went to Wawa it was for the food, not being held captive by fuel purchases. They began combining in around 1982.
