$15 an hour? How quaint. They’re now pitching a minimum wage of $50 an hour.
That’s nothing. Last summer I stopped at a McDonalds off i-95 in Conn. $17 for a Big Mac and small fries NO soda. And the other day I heard some nut politician wants to make minimum wage $50 an hour. Hey why not $50,000 an hour times infinity? Make it a thousand gabillion trillion an hour.
Can still walk into any McD’s near me and get a double cheeseburger and small fry for $3.
Not available on the app, have to actually go into the store/or drive through to get it, but still $3 for a double and small fry.
I do agree that a lot of McD’s is overpriced, I’ve never understood why people will pay what they ask for a Big Mac, but I’ve thought that since I was a kid.
My wife and I don’t enjoy eating in restaurants. It is just not something we enjoy or do for entertainment. When we travel, we occasionally get takeout, but most often, we just find a Walmart for a picnic or we eat in the room.
On the occasion we do go out, our expectations for price is about 10 years behind. It is quite shocking.
Up until now I thought 23 bucks for catfish fillets / shrimp / fries + drink (tea) and a salad was too much so I only go twice a month.
Guess I need to get out more but not McDs.
.
Doesn’t matter...
The CT serfs will continue to vote, overwhelmingly, for the ruling Communist Party...
Should have gotten a free Vote Biden bumper sticker with each purchase.
“No one is forcing anyone to buy an Egg McMuffin.”
MD’s will raise their prices in most communities until they start losing customers.
Not that old, well at least not that old when I was the one paying for it, but do recall the combo meals were under $3 back in the 80s.. Hamburger and Cheeseburger were under $1 each, memory wants to say cheeseburgers they were something like 70 some cents, and hamburger was 60some cents. or something with tax in later 80s.
I never understood why people would pay what they pay for a Big Mac, even back then... I mean a Big Mac and and a Double Cheeseburger were always pretty comparable in raw cost, I am sure the Big Mac is slightly more in raw cost, due to the 3 tier bun, but with only 1 slice of cheese, (the most expensive ingredient other than the beef patty and perhaps the bun on a sandwhich) the differences in raw cost, can’t be that much.
DC = 2 patties, 2 slices of cheese, a regular bun, ketchup, mustard and 2 pickles.
Big Mac = 2 patties, 1 slice of cheese, lettuce, 1000 island dressing, and 2 pickle.s
So the buns more expensive, you have lettuce and thousand island, but 1 less slice of cheese and no ketchup or mustard. Yes ketchup and mustard are cheaper than 1000 Island I am sure , and lettuce adds some cost, but largely I am hard pressed to see where the raw cost is that much different between the two.
Yet, the list price for a double today is $3.49, and a Big Mac is $6.99.. there is no way the Big Mac is double the raw ingredient cost.
And the funny thing about the Double Cheese, as I have mentioned elsewhere, if you go into the store, or the drive through, at least in every McD around me they have the $3 Double Cheesburger deal, which is a double cheesburger and a mall fry for $3. (actually cheaper than buying just the sandwhich). This $3 desl is NOT in their app anywhere I have been able to find, but its available in every McD near me and has been for quite some time.
Based on that price I would never pay it.
Just for fun, some economics info:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac_Index#
The idea is that the price of a Big Mac is an economic indicator of the relative strength of a nation’s currency.
It started as a whimsical idea, but I think there is merit.
“ So if we went back to slavery, wage = 0/hr, then food would be free?”
Food is already free in the hood depending on how many kids popped out
No. It will be priced as is necessary due to mandated minimum wage requirements that the restaurant cant afford. Markets have nothing to do with it nowadays, its all Gov inflation and intervention.
if liberals think THAT is bad just wait to see how much it will cost if they get their way and start paying $50 an hour minimum wage in California!
These particular McD stores are in the hometowns of rich white liberals. I do not feel a bit for them. Pay, suckers.
Make your own damn burgers.
Bidenomics combined with a Fascist New England tax hungry state.
I make my own generic egg mcmuffins for a lot less.
They are like $3 each at my local mcmickie, which is pretty steep to me. So a 6 pack of english muffins is about $3, 6 slices of cheddar cheese cost about a buck, a pack of canadian bacon is like $3, and large eggs are about 50 cents each. That’s $10 for 6, or a little over a buck and a half each, made the way I want them (egg a little gooey, muffin well toasted and buttered, sharp cheddar cheese melted on the egg). Helps if you have rings to keep the egg in a disc shape (which I do).
Get used to it; It is only going to get worse.
I quit buying fast food a few months ago. Just not worth it, especially considering that the quality of it went down faster than the prices went up. I realized that I could make a similar menu that tastes twice as good, for 1/4 to 1/3 the price.
Although I fear that that is changing too. I went grocery shopping yesterday, and noticed that nearly all the things I buy regularly were up a dollar or two per unit above what they cost last time I bought them.
And if Barbara Lee’s proposed $50 an hour national minimum wage goes through, most of us peasants are going to starve unless we can grow / raise our own food.
BidenBucks are WorthLess.
