Tell Seattle to knock down and remove the Statue of Lenin. Better yet, tell the political heirarchy in the US to revere our betters intellectually and morally. From Washington to Robert E Lee, and our Constitution. WE AS A NATION HATE OURSELVES. Surely, not 50% or so, but damn close and growing.

Simple. The overall behavior of most Russians hasn't declined as has the behavior of a lot of Americans.
You need to have a sense of personal responsibility, which is discouraged by democrats and our "education" system.

Perhaps the Russians respect the difference between public and private behavior. In Russia, a person minds his P and Q's in public because that is expected. Conversely, the government respects the privacy of its citizens in a traditional way that is gone in the West, i.e., the government doesn't intrude routinely into family matters, or interpersonal relationships by declaring men stalkers, harassers, abusers, etc. It used to be that way here.

That’s probably true, but to GET there, the LEO system and judicial system has to also be a ‘forcing factor’ (e.g., I’d hazard a guess that PENALTIES for graffiti, etc. are much sharper there than in our hand-slap system of justice for societal problems).

It’s really absurd how people on this forum continually claim equivalence between the USSR and modern Russia. There is absolutely no comparison (and wartime restrictions are not fair game to hold up as “oppression”; every country does them, as did the USA…see Japanese camps).

Even Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who as you should know was interred in a Stalinist gulag for nearly a decade, then later ejected from the USSR after he didn’t make the powers that be happy, returned to Russia at the first opportunity. Vladimir Putin dedicated a memorial to him a few years ago and spoke on the horrors of the Stalinist oppression. If he could get over it, those of you who never were actually oppressed by Stalin should too.

I don’t know what the penalties for graffiti are in Russia (probably administrative fines, maybe tiny jail term?), but it’s clear that Moscow is clean and beautiful.

On the other hand, Tbilisi, Georgia, also a (formerly Soviet) ancient, beautiful city, is absolutely covered with disgusting graffiti. The difference is that Georgia has been introduced to the woke mind virus. Lots of purple hairs and they/them looking types walk around. Mind you, this isn’t everyone…the Georgian culture and people are mostly awesome, but their leadership made their bed against Russia and embraced the West. You can see the results (I was there last summer).
