Any of these appropriate for 6-7 yr olds...? (I am not a fantasy reader)
I would vote for almost anything written by Glen Cook ... The Garrett Files, The Black Company, The Dread Empire.
I’d vote for The Amber Epics as well ...
Bump. Thanks
Btt
Not fantasy.
Historical fiction or historical adventure but not fantasy.
I feel like the guy who was reading the list of "top medieval movies" and found "Troy" on the list.
No Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, either. I could go on and on.
How could I have forgotten L. Sprague de Camp? One of the greatest.
Would recommend avoiding Watership Down until they are a little older.
Agree on Glen Cook. It may be time to reread the Garrett stories, at least the first half-dozen or so. About the best Nero Wolfe parody EVER.
Yeah, his first few actions when arriving in Andelain were pretty vile.
That should of been way up the list.
In Watership Down, Hazel was Fiver’s brother, not sister! Hazel is the protagonist of the story. They aren’t looking for Watership Down, just any safe place to live. Either the article writer never read any of these or it was written by AI.
Howard wrote one Conan novel, "Hour of the Dragon" (later re-published as "Conan the Conqueror").
Astra and Flondix
Thank you.
Don’t forget the novels written by Fmr. Atty Gen Bill Barr’s dad:
He was headmaster of the Dalton School from 1964 to 1974.[9] During his time as Dalton’s headmaster, Barr is alleged to have had a role in hiring future financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a math teacher despite the fact that Epstein (who graduated from high school at the age of 16 and secured a full scholarship to Cooper Union) had failed to complete his degree and was only 21 years old at the time.[10][11] In 1973, Barr published Space Relations, a science fiction novel about a planet ruled by oligarchs who engage in child sex slavery. It has been noted that the plot of the novel anticipates the crimes of Epstein and his convicted and prosecuted accomplice (the list of politicians and celebrities involved in sex crimes remains hidden), Ghislaine Maxwell.[12]
I assume you enjoyed them greatly.
“No Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, either. I could go on and on.”
Good point.
No Jack Vance either, though all of that is very tentatively SF, despite appearances.
