Isn’t there an immy-grant claiming that his inability to understand English is grounds to appeal a conviction?
You don’t have laws in New York to get rid of squatters. We do have laws in Florida to remove or arrest squatters.
Laws in New York are based on landlord/tenant civil cases and law.
If signs were any good, we would just put up signs on our borders!
We have to have deeds to our property. Anyone inheriting/getting/buying a house/property has to get a transfer TOD recorded at the couthouse showing ownership. Why is it so hard to get that information and kick squatters as*** out?
Because it started in the stone age? Hello, Present Byedone, you love to change laws. Get this law changed. ASAP, before you’re gone.
It doesn’t matter what laws are, or aren’t on the book in New York City, they wouldn’t be enforced, nor prosecuted anyway. Those days are long gone. The City is a lawless, crime-ridden crap hole, because City officials have to make sure the crime rates are low, which means arrests are slim to none.
😊👍
You're right - it's about keeping the lie that 'crime rates are down' going. The price of that tactic? People in New York are harmed, cops are in danger, and the city is falling apart. That said, it's still nice to know if squatters move into OUR homes in Florida, all we have to do is call the cops and they'll get them out of our homes.
The internet is fueling the problem, and unless States and Cities take action, we'll be seeing more of it.
DeSantis gave a short talk on the history of squatter’s rights and how at some point in history they made sense with people abandoning property and no records etc. etc
DeSantis comes across as a ‘good ole boy’ but in fact he has a law degree from Harvard and his ‘great instincts’ have more to do with a high IQ than with ‘instincts’.
That said, he talked about Florida snowbirds - and how they lived up north in the summer and here in the winter and spring and their homes often sat empty and needed to be protected. As ALL our homes needed to be protected. New laws were written and if some lowlife moves into a Florida home the police are called the police and the police arrest the squatters and remove them.
It’s similar to when a burglar breaks into your home. You call the police, the police arrest the guy. And he’s gone.
Your homeowners insurance would likely cover any damage. We’re not talking days or weeks - we’re talking hours or minutes to arrest squatters. You’re right that this law was just passed a few days ago so we’ll learn more over the next few weeks.
Florida can protect homeowner’s rights for the home he owns in Florida. But not the one he owns in New York. Theses are state laws and New York usually stands with criminals, homeless, drug addicts, killers etc. So I assume New York would protect squatters/criminals over any citizens. New York’s a democrat hellhole after all.
Thanks for your input.
Take it for what it's worth, Barack Obama and Moochie have law degrees from Harvard. So does Geraldo Rivera, Jerry Springer, Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela, Former homo RAT Senator Barney Frank, Sandy Berger (Clinton's National Archive their), Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer and Elena Sagan, Chief Justice John Roberts, Former Attorney General in Obama's Administration General Loretta Lynch, and Mitt Romney.
Lawyers are a dime a dozen in this country.
