I gave a kidney 4 and a half years ago to a woman whom I had known as a kid decades before. It went smoothly for both of us, and I can honestly say it was for me a low-risk procedure with an easy recovery and very manageable long-term lifestyle adjustments.
I mention that because up until I was recruited through community outreach, I had little idea of just how deadly kidney disease is. I thought dialysis was relatively easy (it's not) and that it was a permanent fix (it's not.)
Given that upwards of 85,000 Americans die annually while awaiting human transplants, this development is the most exciting thing since the first human transplantation seventy years ago. Meanwhile, consider indicating the organ donation designation on your drivers lincense.

On the one hand, the procedure might add years to his life.
On the other hand, he will be pestered by friends calling “soieeeeee” for all those years.

Going “wee-wee-weee” all the way home.

Soon the left will say the procedure is racist against Muslims (always forgetting that Islam isn’t a race anyway)

I just want to know, is it still OK for this recipient to eat pork barbecue?
;-P
And God bless you for your donation.

Incorrect, the first inter-species kidney transplant was when my ex-husband received a kidney from his wife, a viper.

It’s so thoughtful for Rosie O’Donnell to give up a kidney to someone in need. Or was this one from Rob Reiner?
