An object in motion tends to stay in motion.

If you can move the Earth, how do you STOP IT?................

Obviously, they are reverse engineering a crashed UFO and making the propulsion system trickle out, as it were, to hide its origin.

“The reports of the Wright brothers’ initial flight were unimpressive and little better than what Buhler has claimed.”

I don’t know why the first flight of the Wright brother’s plane is always mentioned, in mere seconds, they stayed out there beyond that initial flight and kept it up in the air for lengthy periods.

A replica of the plane was built, but they could not get it to fly.

““It will be this force that we will use to propel objects for the next 1,000 years… until the next thing comes.””

A pretty bold claim given he admits he doesn’t know how it works.

Nevertheless I hope they have found something significant. I’m skeptical but we’ll see if this goes anywhere.

The patent holder is not in the business of developing a working product. He is trying to get someone else to buy a licnese to develop a working product. It’s more IP scammery.

The Wright Flyer was a deeply flawed design that was just barely capable of flight. It was delicate and underpowered and relied on wing-warping for control, a difficult and unreliable method that required a prone pilot to shift his weight to maintain stability and direction in flight. Not the least of the Wrights' accomplishments was to somehow fly the thing.

The Wright brothers realized they needed more powerful engines, better propellers, and stronger airframes. They shrewdly focused on better aircraft engines but clung to wing warping too long. Glenn Curtiss's airframe designs quickly bested those of the Wrights. The Wrights launched a bitter patent contest with Curtiss over his innovation of discrete control surfaces, the standard method still used today. Eventually, due to government pressure, the legal battle between Wright and Curtiss was settled by a corporate merger.

”The fact that he can’t explain how the drive works in plain English but has to dance around it with technobabble as “new fundamental force” and “electrostatic pressures” automatically makes me think this is a con.”

“ If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.”

This sounds very much like the EmDrive which was revealed some years ago.

What’s the speed of no light?

the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react -- to say that would be absurd. Of course he only seems to lack the knowledge ladled out daily in high schools.

Gotta love the New York Times ... vomiting forth complete rubbish for over a century.

For a while, the New York Times had reasonably good science coverage, even to the point of pre-WW II coverage about the possibility of an atom bomb. In the late nineties, the Times and other newspapers shrank due to internet competition. Worse, in recent years the Times took up climate alarmism and went woke. Now even the venerable Scientific American has gone that way and finding decent middle brow science articles in print or on the Internet can be hard.
