I’m laughing at the thought. The “Seething Lindsays”. Cool!
You nailed it.
Ideally, the politicians would truthfully clearly state their stances without hyperbole and voters would do their own investigating and come to their own conclusions. That’s a fantasy land though.
In reality, we have hundreds of millions of people in the country who can vote. There has to be a method to determine who’s on the tickets - someone has to put the empty ballots in the boxes, someone has to create the ballots themselves else we wind up with complete write-in ballots which leads to its own problems (ballot box stuffing, boxes of “ballots” in peoples trunks etc..)
If you’re not suggesting total move to write-in, then there has to be some kind of organization that creates the ballots. There are simply too many people to not have SOME organization. And with that organization comes the money and the power and the corruption that comes with both of those things.
I don’t know if there is a “best” way to do this. “Better”? Probably but there is no perfect system.
I’m talking about stopping the millionaires from picking our candidates.
Candidates should work to gain party support at the grass roots without the interference of the rich.

Sounds like the unfilled arena was the concern with the first debate undercard.
(And, I might add, having the Ohio GOP hand out tickets for the main event gave the audience a big Kasich and Bush bias.—except when Trump cracked them up.
