Yes, that’s it in a nutshell.
I suspect that you are correct.
To wit, at a family gathering last weekend, the subject of Trump came up, and one of my very liberal brothers surprised his fellow liberal doche bags by saying he likes some of things Trump says. Lord Almighty, they just went full ape shite on him. He backed away from his statement to calm them down, but later he cornered me in private and said “F them. I’m voting for Trump.”
What I’m trying to demonstrate is that in public, most people will say what they believe is politically and socially acceptable, but in the privacy of a voting both, they’ll select whichever candidate they believe best represents their interests.
That bears repeating:
