If the Dems thrive on this drama, then let the voters take care of them. The Senate’s Reps would only make matters worse by talking about it.
Maconnell has already said there wasn’t much of a case, and that is all he can do at the moment without appearing to be as political as the Dems.
The voters do not like this political theater so it’s best to stay focussed on job 1 ... The people.
Apparently Pelosi has started a two-week recess, so they don’t even seem to be too concerned about moving this forward quickly.
Ross Perot would have faced the same issues.

The congressional "legal fund" to pay hush money to
women working in the House that had been sexually harassed
and to pay the legal bills of the congressional harassers is all I need to know in order to assess the character of House of Representatives.
The fact that it exists is damning enough and shows
that congress is totally worthless to the Republic.

Sadly they’re not. The Senate had ZERO confirmation votes last week and ZERO confirmation votes this week. Now they’re going on recess for the next two weeks. They are most definitely not busy on the Judicial Confirmation front.
Perot was a phony, too. He wanted the Clintoons in the White House. 24 years later, so did the Bushes.
It is disgusting to the max. Why aren’t they having hearings on Biden who has admitted blackmailing Ukrainians to protect his son.

The only surprise is that Mike Lee, Mitt Romney, and Ben Sasse aren’t openly joining the Democrats in howling for impeachment.
I certainly don’t want to suggest the US Senate is being smart about anything; but, there’s an old saying that seems appropriate here and it goes something like...”don’t get in the way when your enemy is busy self destructing”.

President Trump is most effective when he is the aggrieved party and if the democrats are dumb enough to vote articles of impeachment, he will be in his element. Impeachment articles so weak that they must be passed by the House on a party line vote will never gain a two thirds vote in the Senate. It is doubtful they could even get a simple majority. We should not confuse normal legislation with voting to overturn a national election.
