Yeah...my first thought too. Since when do we see murder and immediately think “oh, very well might have been self defense though”?
Self defense usually comes when you have a person not hiding the fact that they committed the act.
It sounds like more prosecutorial ‘discretion’ favoring certain people.

Unless the guy was invited in, claiming the stabber who killed Talcott was acting in self-defense just doesn’t ring true.
