BlackElk, I just read your posts and I'm wondering if you skipped your meds? You have to be a liberal, 'cause anyone who has to take more than one paragraph to make his point
can't be thinking straight. Here in Texas we are acutely aware of the flood of ILLEGAL aliens and the problems they cause. Are you in favor of any other forms of ILLEGAL activity? I'll support any candidate that will at least try to stop ILLEGAL immigration. That doesen't equate to racism
no matter how much you want it to.

Down with Reconquista!

When you get through all the red tape, he's basically saying that he's a center-right Catholic Democrat who became Republican "by default". He has NO belief or respect for the party's long standing heritage and platforms. He hates many conservative icons that have served the GOP over the years (Which was my point!). He spent many paragraphs explaining what type of Republican he isn't, but what it boils down to is what type of Republican he is.

Basically, I'd wager that BlackElk is probably alot like Bill Lipinski from an ideological standpoint. Their voting records would probably be identical if elected. Conservative Catholic Dems really have a rough time because the DNC is too socialist for them, but they just can't bring themselves to respect the GOP for what it is. The want to toss out any long time position of the party that they find "offensive" and they are full time apologists for all the indefensible things the 'RAT party has done over the decades (promoted slavery, started the income tax wars, segregated Asian-Americans in WWII)

Essentially, BlackElk is a "Illinois Republican" externally, but internally, his mindset is neither Illinoian nor Republican.

You talk to the southern Dixiecrats on this forum, you're find out the ONLY reason they now vote Republican is because they happen to be conservative on 2nd amendment and having less federal control. Likewise, you talk to some northern Catholic "former" Democrats, and you're find out they ONLY reason they now vote Republican is because they are pro-life. The Democrat's switch on social issues alienated alot of their members, so they showed up at the doorstep of our party and want to dictate what the GOP should stand for.

The most amazing thing I find about all these conservative Dems is they all take the "holier-than-thou" view on social issues but attack the GOP for (gasp!) standing up against slavery in the 1860s. Any real Republican, like Ronald Reagan or Alan Keyes, will tell you the reason the Democrat Party is pro-abortion is because they take the same view towards it that they took towards slavery in the 1860s ("Individuals have a right to do what they want with their 'property' and how dare the GOP try to interfere with that private decision"). Go on a pro-life thread sometime and you can see freepers anaylizing the Roe v. Wade decision to being virtually identical to the Dred Scott decision. The Supreme Court came in and had the feds overturn all kinds of state laws so they could all individuals to do whatever they want with their "property", even murder. If human beings can't vote, then they don't "count" as a person and don't have a right to life or freedom, in the mindset of these Democrats.

If there's one thing worse than Dixiecrat Freepers, it's copperhead northern Democrat freepers. It's a well known fact that pro-life New England Democrats and pro-gun southern Democrats have worked together to give us gems like "conservative" Jimmy Carter (not to mention Woody Wilson!). Neither group is "Jacksonian" like they CLAIM, because it's a well known fact that Jackson was a Unionist!

I remember my mom used to talk about going to school in the 60s, where the Catholic Democrats would try to indoctrinate them into thinking JFK was the savior of the planet and every self-respecting Catholic had to vote for him or they weren't true Catholics (ironically, JFK himself didn't even support the Pope or most of the church's positions). That's why she looks at the Democrats in disgust today. Now the Catholic Dems say you have to embrace their newfound love for illegal aliens and abolishing the death penalty. There is no low they won't sink to. Catholic Republicans like Pat O'Malley and Frank Keating take alot of heat for simply following their own party's platform.
