I remember exactly who's war it was...
JFK was in the White House and, even though he was ex-Navy, he "adopted" the US Army's Green Berets and was completely behind (even to the extent of ordering the assassination of S. Viet's president) our efforts in South Viet Nam. The war became LBJ's war in 1963 and Johnson massively increased JFK's comittment in '65, only to announce he was throwing in the towl in 1968 by not running for re-election.
It only became Nixon's war after the it had become un-winnable, if it ever was.

It's obvious, Iraq is no Vietnam.

How true. For Iraq to be like Vietnam, the average voter would have to believe that the federal government is not leveling with him or her about the war. (This is missing from the article, for some reason.)
