I wouldn't believe anything the NY Times wrote including it was going to be sunny tomorrow here in Oklahoma. I would have to wait and see for myself.

Don't trust anyone associated with the NY Times or anythiing they write because if someone was ethical, they would have quit under Raines!

This was the lead article on ABC radio news all day (not a word about the rat memo). They made it sound as if war could have been avoided because of it.

This story has all the distinct characteristics of being manufactured. It seems awfully convenient that every argument which was made by those who were opposed to the war with Iraq are being confirmed by this man. Not just one, not two, not three, but all of them! What are the chances of that?

We had enough high ranking officials in Iraq on the CIA payroll before the war we would have known these overtures were false.

Saddam Hussein wanted to make a deal

I have proof that this is true and correct! My brother dated a girl, who had a cousin, that used to share a room with a foreign exchange student that knew the son-in-law of an Iraqi General. This general once read a memo that can confirm every bit of this story if he hadn't defected to a villa in France where a digruntaled former wife shot him for shacking up with a washed up film star. Every bit could have been confirmed.

This story has a lot more legs than the Sudan was going to five up OBL to Clinton on a silver platter but he blew it off one.

So Saddam didnt believe we would attack because FRANCE and RUSSIA said they would prevent it........... SO he sends out a peace offering because he KNEW we would NOT attack?? Makes little sense.......so what is the TRUTH? The truth is Saddam is a mass murdering dictator thug whose time has passed.

I love how the Leftist, hate-America media always makes it look like our enemies are totally sincere and we're the hard-headed ones. We accept the deal, send in a few agents, then Saddam kicks them out. Ha ha, fooled the stupid Americans again! That's what would have happened if we accepted this "deal".

There's also the constant blame America line for everything that goes on in the world because we don't "understand the cultural differences". Well, Saddam - the NYT peacemaker - could have avoided the war by doing something that would have left no room for cultural misunderstanding. He could have gone on Iraqi TV, said he was stepping down, then flown out of the country.

Yeah.

ABC had this all over their reports.

While ignoring the demo's stalls and treason in the Senate.

While virtually ignoring the GOP governor wins in MS and KY.

While ignoring the continued filibuster of the judges.

...

But this, this one-man scheme to delay removal of Saddamn for two years, one person (maybe) turned over, and a "promise" to "hold elections" (not remove him from power!) is what they reported.

I thought Richard Perle was a hawk? No?

If this happened, you can be sure that Saddam's demands were so outrageous as to be unworthy of consideration. Or is this some kind of sting to lure in the whacko anti-war, anti-America left, media, 9 dwarves etc.

They always made 11th hour appeals that they reneged on.
We also gave Saddam a day to leave.

The San Fran. talk show hosts, from the ABC affiliate, are re-energised and ready to start the "revolution". Maroons all.

Was Saddam going to quite his post? No. End of discussion.

Mr. Perle now plays down the importance of his contact with Mr. Hage. He said he finds it difficult to believe that Saddam Hussein would make serious proposal through that kind of channel. "There were so many other ways to communicate," he said. "There were any number of governments involved in the end game, the Russians, French, Saudis."

This lengthy article was a WHOLE lot of nothingness, even its main players discount there was any real attempt by Saddam to initiate this...what a hoax. Obvious in its non-news news.

But there you have, a tiddly wink of an aside, blow up all out of proportion, lying in some shadowy drawer, kept on the BACKBURNER as ti were, probably in witch hitlery's coven in DC, to be issued to her lap dog media the minute it became IMPORTANT to override a NEGATIVE and DAMAGEING news item about the dems.

Today is the DAY the memo the democrats slung around the intelligence committee, a memo that suggested ways to USE information and how and WHEN to use it to DEFEAT PRESIDENT BUSH next year. This borderline traitorous memo, which has merit, which the above story does not (talk about a WASTE OF TIME) should have been the lead in any HONEST media news program.

Imagine for a minute the tide was reversed, and the republicans had circulated a similar memo, WITHIN THE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE, while billy clinton was in office!

So what led on the major nets tonight?

That President Bush refused to meet with Saddam to avert WAR! (My words...but I am sure all of you understand the major networks and how they always ELIMINATE any news that is negative towards their leaders...the democrat elites in DC.)

It is this type of propaganda, that people are SICK of...especially those who catch the memo story on the radio, and then at home, expect to hear about it, hear it analyzed and discussed in the evening news...and nothing about it appears. This failure on the part of ABC, NBC & CBS is what is causing Fox News to grow everyday as the major networks fall into the dust. Makes ya almost hope these agenda driven big three keep up their dishonest and unworthy work!

And is this intelligence info that was leaked by those upstanding Democrats who pledged an independent investigation before knowing what they would be investigating? Am I off base here?

Headline should read, "Saddam begs to continue his perverse life of opulent Islamism derived from his rule of genocidal terroristic tyranny and Rummy told him to go to hell"

Actually I can believe Saddam DID send messengers to the Bush Administration making offers to prevent the war.

The Reason?

Saddam realized this was an "paper tiger" administration that wasn't going to made empty threats to appease an angry public like Clinton did repeatedly.
When thousands of armored vehicles began amassing on his border, Saddam knew he was in deep sh#t. Here was the president who was the elder son of the man whom he tried to assassinate, and it demanded REVENGE, a concept well known to middle eastern culture.
And like the Empire of Japan and the Hitler regime during WW2, when tanks appeared on their borders and they knew the end was near, both secretly sent ambassadors through neutral third party countries with peace treaty proposals.
However the time for treaties was long since passed and the Allies wanted the toppling of the regimes.
Just as the Saddam regime was to Bush.

Any agreements would just be so much paper to Hussein, just as it was for Hitler and as soon as the threat was gone, Saddam would be back to his old tricks. A la the First Gulf War agreements.

Bush was right to go to war despite the alleged peace overtures

Just for the exercise, I think I could write a plausible story, entirely fictional, and base it on unnamed sources, reliable sources, or that Martian, "Somesay".

On the web, millions of drooling idiots will believe anything.
