"What gives?"
Whatever the reason, it's worked out to the President's benefit, and that's good. Those like Dean and Kerry, who have bad-mouthed him for going to war, or for going to war without UN approval, can eat their words. Maybe this will take the wind out of their sails for a while, or at least until they find something else to bitch about. Look for them to start the no WMD's found issue again since the ties between Al Queda and Saddam have been established. They'll always find something to go after the President on. If they can't find something legitimate, they'll make it up. They'll stop at nothing in their attempts to denigrate President Bush.

Oh boy, the administration must be getting truly desperate. Another "leaked" story that will prove to be untrue and as false as the WMD claims. Later, the administration will say, "we never said that". Like I said, real desperation to give the sheep some reason to believe that Iraq isn't a total FUBAR.

Look for them to start the no WMD's I get the feeling that something is going to pop up on the WMD front any day now.

"So the story here is that a part of Saddam's government might have financed the hijackers?"
And it only follows, that if they'd finance the hijackers (Al Queda), why wouldn't they sell or provide them with plans for WMD's or the WMD's themselves? The Democrats need to be asked this question and often.

You said "That pair could have made Saddam look wimpy by comparison" That is what I have thought for a long time, most likely the killing squads would have only gotten worse.

What I can't understand is the opinion here that the CIA is full of Clinton-cronies, until something like this is leaked out. And then suddenly the CIA is 100% accurate and not politicially motivated.
I realize that there's different political motives of people inside the CIA, but for the constant trashing of the agency, and then the cheering when a 'good' document comes out is just humorous to watch.

Let's NOT get tooooooooo excited!! The media will do it's DARNEST to sweep this BOMBSHELL under the rug!! BASTARDS!
To: arete
I see. You know this is false because you have your own intelligence network that rivals the CIA's.
Be careful. Sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling "LALALALALALA!" for too long can cause permanent damage. Actually, it looks like that warning's a bit too late.

Are you sure you don't have the CIA mixed up with the State Dept? I've heard more complaints about the Clinton cronies there than at the CIA.
