What apology? You owe a big one to lots of folks, that SERVE YOU!
The fact that you are a sniveling, "can't make it in the real world", poseur, says it all! I looked at your home page, and saw the stuff that interests you. It sure doesn't seem that FREEDOM is one of them.
Your personal 'experience' does not qualify you to denigrate the NG, or any other military person! You are certainly entitled to an opinion, but not to demean others, whoSERVE!
I have only two years of experience, 1966-1968, in the Navy. I did not want to go to be a foot soldier, so i went USN. I guess I was 'chicken', in some ways, but there was no way I would not have SERVED!
Thanks, Sarge, and thank you to all who served in any type of military for OUR COUNTRY!

"My experience with NG's in Viet Nam was that they were poorly trained and even more poorly disciplined."

And it was a soldier in the 101st .. not what you would normally consider "poorly trained and poorly disciplined" .. who rolled a hand grenade or two into his unit's Command Tent.

My experience is/was that there are many types in both the NG, the Reserve, and the active Army. Some of the "regulars" I served with in the who had Vietnam time were incapable of maintaining their discipline in a non-combat environment; some were the epitome of professionalism. There are all kinds ...

.. and, as another poster indicated, times change. Some of the NG NCOs here at Fort Hood that are preparing to deploy with the 1st Cav and III Corps are chewing up our regulars for uniform appearance and military discipline/courtesy.

I was NG.
Artillery.
I did the advance party security sweep.
You know how many people I snuck up on that had no idea I was there?
Next time you denigrate NG, make sure you're saying it with a smile and the '/ joke' tag afterwards.
There are soldiers fighting right now, some of them NG, and all you have ot say is that crap?
Support the troops instead of knifing them in the back.
