See what Kevin Curry wrote in post 60:

After two interations of such malarkey, you have 25 percent of what you started with. After six iterations, you have about three percent.

You die by degrees, and you die ignobly.

Bush hasn't given me jack. He's vetoed nothing, gave an utterly compromised tax cut, wasted $400 billion on medicare giveaways, wasted $15 billion on AIDS in Africa, keeps sending up trial balloons about illegal alien amnesty, pushed an education bill Ted Kennedy could love, imposed steel tariffs, signed the bloated farm bill, and so forth.

Pray tell, WHAT 50% of what I want has Bush done?

The McCain-Feingold assault on our First Amendment rights was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress, signed into law by a Republican President, and affirmed by a Republican-controlled Supreme Court.

The Senate was not controlled by the Republicans and what difference would it have made given the final vote was 60-40. Here are the Republican Senators who voted yea: Chafee, Cochran, Collins, Domenici, Fitzgerald, Lugar, McCain, Snowe, Specter, Thompson and Warner. And even that DINO, Miller voted yea.

Until the judiciary and SCOTUS is re-balanced, I'm voting Republican. Nothing else matters more than getting the legislating judges off their **Beeping** benches. Then we can rise up within the party and get rid of the RINOs.

Republicans are what Democrats were 24 years ago. The Democrats are now Socialist.

You can see that with Zell Miller. Zell Miller hasn't changed... his party has.

There is not much we can do at the Presidential level for 04, but if we all get behind the Constitution Party starting now we can be ready by 08.

Perhaps by that time W will have destroyed the Democratic Party by taking the GOP left, leaving room for a true conservative party.

I'm pulling out and I no longer give a shiite one way or another. But I must say that the excuses given on this thread (and on others) are beginning to sound kinda minimalist if not outright nihilistic. OK, desperate, full of resignation. "We've got to support the Pubbies because the only alternative is so much worse!" Indeed! You've got your two party, or rather one party with two wings, system, you love it, throw nothing but chauvinistic insults on every country that dares to deviate from this perfect utopian model, live with it, love it, I say!

Thanks for making the cheerleaders with red and white -- great Sooner colors! If we are going to be Bush cheerleaders at least their outfits can match the Sooners!

At this point, I believe that national security issues must trumpet, and will be supporting the President. The war against Islamofascism is that important.

On the other hand, Congress would be a perfect vehicle in which to voice our wrath.

It would, were it not for the fact that nearly all districts are gerrymandered to the point of invulnerability.

Thanks for pointing out the facts about Republicans not controlling the Senate which was missed by the poster. It was veto proof so there was absolutely no reason for Bush to veto and have his veto overturned. That seems to be missing on here!

Political risk was not worth it IMO!

The truth is that if one is willing to overlook his socially liberal point of view, he has many conservative qualities - focusing on fiscal (Vermont has an excellent record in that realm), is for states rights, he's not 'after' guns, he wants to break up the media monopoly....he's the best chance to Democrats have against Bush. Everything that conservatives 'fault' Bush for, so does he. Bush needs to pander to his conservative base with more than patriotic speeches. We all love the flag but we need real common sense Texas talk on why he has formulated so many government programs and whatnot....he needs a good 'ole townhall or fireside chat, imho.

60-40 in the senate, you need 2/3s to override a veto.

Veto would not have been overridden. Bush screwed conservatives, yet again.

Have you noticed that some of these posters are sounding like the Bush hating democRATs at DU and RATs.com? Could it be? Are they really conservative or are they here to try and split conservatives with their posts that sound like the Bush was selected not elected crowd.

You must be becoming an even angrier clam seeing as how most people here are not going to join your "defeat Bush" bandwagon.

I was told they had the votes to override if it came to that because of the reaction of some of the Senators in States that are borderline getting elected. They could vote against the bill but could not vote to support the veto.

This was the first piece of legislation Daschle drug on the floor of the Senate as soon as Jeffords jumped.

Yep and , if we all would recall, this was a lead story in all media outlets, beating their gums about it to a point where reality was trumped by perception.
