I see in Ashcroft a Constitution-breaking, one-track minded statist bent on imposing his lopsided priorities on an America supine with fear.

Ya think?

Is it just you?

Gee, I don't know. You certainly make a good case--without any supporting evidence other than your own opinions.

Personally, I'm not "supine with fear" as are you and Rooster.

Rooster, it's downright un-Texan of you to be supine with fear.

What would Mattie say?

What would Mattie say?

"Is that what they call grit in Fort Smith? We call it something else in Yell County."

This is getting old. WOD and WOT are not the same thing.

Too true.  One is a war on us, the other is a war on them and our privacy.  As you may have read elsewhere, the law Bush just signed allows the Justice department access to your and my financial records without a warrant and without charging us with being terrorists.  Arguing over which War this is a casualty of is churlish, don't you think?

Sooner or later, every contentious issue reaches a point of overdiscussion.
That is, opposing sides have stacked their pallets of evidence and recreating
the last two years' news for those either late arriving or inattentive loses its
appeal.

If you haven't heard about federal agents called before state judges for violating state laws, the Justice Department's jihad against anyone availing themselves of right to death laws, and the by-now routine violation of the Tenth Amendment under the guise of non-existent interstate commerce, you haven't been paying attention.

Even if the AUSA is guilty of something in this case, nothing will come of it. It never does. The government never finds any of its agents in the wrong. Look to Ruby Ridge, Waco, et al.

Where I live the U.S.Atty resigned under questionable circumstances. Nothing will come of it. "Nothing to see here, move on!!!"

NEW YORK – Anthony Elgindy, a former Encinitas resident who operated a Web site for penny stock traders, was convicted yesterday on charges that he used confidential information about criminal investigations from an FBI agent to profit illegally in the market....
The former agent who supplied the information, Jeffrey A. Royer, was found guilty of charges related to Elgindy's stock-selling scheme. The federal grand jury in Brooklyn had deliberated for four days after a 10-week trial.
The guilty verdicts end an unusual trial that invoked the Sept. 11 attacks and provided a glimpse into the shadowy world of thinly traded, easily manipulated stocks.
Prosecutors maintained that Royer, an FBI agent assigned to Indian reservation crimes, provided Elgindy with information about white-collar corporate investigations.
Elgindy then posted some of that information on his investment Web site, enabling him to collect at least $2.7 million from subscribers.
